HOT SPRINGS—I walked for 34:14 around Oaklawn and back to my car from the press box this evening. ...Afterward, because of work on the I-30 and I-430 Arkansas River bridges, it took me two hours, thirty-four minutes to drive from Oaklawn to Levy. It was a nightmare for everyone involved. It looks as if I might have to drive through Conway to get to the track next week and perhaps for the next four to get this fucking seven-month season done with. You know, so I can get on with a more meaningful thing.
