I walked the Levy Trail Loop this warm Masters Sunday morning in 34:49. ...Tiger Woods is tied for 41st at +7, 16 strokes behind Scotty Scheffler's lead. I heard wishful thinking from two guys on sports radio as I drove from Oaklawn last night. One of them said, "You can never count Tiger out," which is a golf cliche comparable to, "He has some work left," or "On this hole, anyone will gladly take par and proceed to the next hole," except that it is untrue in this case. Perhaps, if he were only behind a player or two, he would have a long but legitimate shot, but even that would require the most incredible comeback ever in golf. He cannot pass forty pro golfers, who are on average five strokes ahead, in 18 holes, even if he does pass Scotty Scheffler. However, Scheffler only leads second-place Cameron Smith by three strokes. Smith, an Australian with yellow, gnarled teeth and a silly mullet, is probably second to Scheffler among today's top players. This could be (get fucked, Jim) a round for the ages. ...Mammal Game score: Dogs 5, Cats 2. There is another new cat on the trail, this one a small, long-haired, black-on-white girl with a lovely Batman mask. She walked laps through and around my legs and rested easily in my arms.
