HOT SPRINGS—I walked the Levy Trail Loop this morning in 35:15. Now, at Oaklawn, my primary goal is to finish writing an American Beauty Stakes race story by 6 p.m., so that I can get home in time to watch the start of Green Bay's divisional-round playoff game with San Francisco. The forecast in Green Bay predicts a kickoff temperature of 0°F. I will have, at most, an hour and a half to write my story. The odds against my leaving here by six are currently 7-2. ...I left the press box at 6:30 p.m., and I arrived home with two minutes left in the first quarter and Packers leading, 7-0. Not bad. I believe I wrote a decent story.
