The major American television networks should all offer Ellison Barber somewhere in the neighborhood of a million dollars a minute to cover live news events. I'm gripped by NBC's coverage because of the chance it will go back to her minute-by-minute accounts of what has unfolded before her. By the way, she's a fairly typical-looking TV blonde, in no way petepretty. ...Meanwhile, Adam Kinzinger, a Republican U.S. representative from Ilinois, might become an attractive presidential candidate based on nothing more than a five-minute interview with Lestor Holt completed at about 2:08 p.m. CST. ...At about 2:15 p.m., NBC showed a video of several, nine or ten or so, protestors just walking around inside the chamber of the U.S. Senate. You know, picking up and examining stuff off desks, taking pictures, and so forth. Man, what great television. Just fantastic. ...At 2:29 p.m., NBC's Pete Williams reported someone was shot by law enforcement inside the Capitol Building.
The way uniformed authorities reacted to the mob in Washington today might help set a standard. Knocks on doors tomorrow rather than on heads today, all on worldwide TV, will serve justice in a civil but equally effective way, I believe. —Pete nearly published this on Erin's Facebook post (the one about how Chris' wardrobe is similar to today's protesters) in response to someone's request for rubber bullets and the like
