I was sicker than two motherfuckers from Saturday afternoon through Tuesday, with a fever that peaked at 100.5°F. I literally can't remember the last time I was sick, not counting colds, unless it was early March 2003. I'm still a good piece from one-hundred percent but did manage to exercise today for the first time since about lunchtime last Saturday.
Ed and I played the front nine of Burns Park Championship Course early this afternoon. I scored 45 and Ed 46. I had 3 pars, 2 doubles, 4 bogies and used 18 putts. It was nice to get out

Oaklawn
HOT SPRINGS—I took a long way from Trivista Street to the Oaklawn pressbox early this afternoon in 38:59.
After two bets today, my $40 season voucher is now worth $31.60, so I'm down $8.40 for the season. I bought a $4 win ticket that was worth $13.60 after Scrutinizer won the sixth race.

Burns Park Championship Course
Ed and I played Burns Park Championship Course this afternoon. Ed scored 94 and I scored 97, with nines of 46 and 51. I used 35 putts.
My lifetime's great pet Jo died a year and two days ago. Here's what I wrote: Jo died in apparent comfort at about 2:15 this afternoon. I am pleased to note I took two fried drumsticks out of skillet at 1:48 that smelled good enough to draw her attention from what I theretofore believed was a coma. Jo could barely move, but she turned her head and looked up over an arm of our maroon recliner toward me and the fried chicken. I walked over and placed one of the drumsticks on the chair, close to her mouth, and she managed to taste it in the final minutes of her life. What a cat. Jo was clearly my all-time pet.

Levy Trail Loop/Levy Trail South
I walked the Levy Trail Loop late Tuesday morning in 33:24.
Late this (Wednesday) afternoon, I walked Levy Trail South in 33:18. It rained all day, right up until I walked. It has rained practically non-stop since Sunday night. We are having our second consecutive soaking-wet winter. No kidding, over the last month, I have golfed almost every day I could.* I live a seven-minute drive from two wonderful courses and can't wait for the weather to break. Otherwise, heck, I might register to vote and back one of those climate-change fucks. Which fuck leads the pack in that department?
*a total of five times, and the course was wet for each of those

Levy Trail South
I walked Levy Trail South late this morning in 33:09.
By the way, the new Hasher Mattie was as lovely yesterday as I remembered from last week. She seems quite smitten with her boyfriend, a rather handsome, bearded fellow she said she met through a dating website. One of them told me the secret was to "cast a wide net." Whichever one didn't, nodded in agreement. I drove to Walmart this afternoon and bought a big net.
Have any of my one or two readers read In Cold Blood by Truman Capote? I just watched the movie Capote on Pluto TV. I might order a copy of the book before I go to sleep tonight (it is 11:13 p.m.). I had never before considered reading it.

Burns Park Tournament Course/Hash
I played the front-nine of the Burns Park Tournament Course this morning in 43, with 3 pars, 4 bogies, and 2 doubles. We usually — in fact, only — play the yellow tees. Today, I played the good old whites for the first time since about 2011, or whenever I last played the course before our recent restart.
This afternoon, I walked and jogged for 1:22:20 with the Litte Rock Hash House Harriers from Boyle Park.

Levy Trail South
I walked Levy Trail South at lunchtime today in 33:51. It is sunny with no threat of rain in Levy for the first time since last Sunday afternoon.
QUESTION OF THE DAY
How did "car seat" become the name of choice for chairs designed to protect small children in motor vehicles, and how did that name distinguish it from what all the rest us sit in and have sat in since the invention of automobiles?

Burns Park Championship Course
Ed and I played the Burns Park Championship Course this afternoon. Ed scored 95 and I scored 99. I kind of forgot how to play on the back nine. On the other hand, I was a bit distracted by thoughts of Matty throughout the round. I had nines of 46 and 53 and used 42 putts.

Hash
I was out for 1:08:01 on a run with the Little Rock Hash House Harriers from a house in the Heights neighborhood. Afterward, during the Super Bowl, I met a petepretty superstar named Maddy. She looked a little like Marcie, the Peanuts character. She told me I wasn't the first to tell her that.

Oaklawn
HOT SPRINGS—I walked from Oaklawn to, through, and around the Greenwood Cemetary for 1:26:55, so I probably went a bit over five miles.

I wonder what his wife Maria, who died in 2008, thought about his nickname
