Oaklawn Park

HOT SPRINGS—I walked about four miles at lunchtime today in 1:05:30 through neighborhoods north of Oaklawn Park. My walk included a half-hour stop for pork chops at the Waffle House on Central Avenue.
I lost $2 betting horses, so I'm now up $105.40 for the year.

Levy Trail Loop

I walked the Levy Trail Loop this morning in 29:35.

Levy Trail Loop/Levy Trail 5K/Ghetto Cat Loop/Ghetto Cat Loop

I walked the Levy Trail Loop on Wednesday evening, plus a little extra. A bout of hypoglycemia has blurred my memory a bit, but according to my watch, I was out for 35:26.
This morning, I walked the Levy Trail 5K in 48:43, with splits of 15:47, 31:27, and 1:29. I went through three miles in 47:14.
I walked the Ghetto Cat Loop this afternoon in 33:08.

Pam's Path

I jogged and walked Pam's Path at lunchtime today in 53:34, with splits of 12:44, 13:37, 13:52, and 13:21.

Levy Trail North

I walked Levy Trail North this evening in 32:31.

Ouachita Trail

A Little Rock Hasher named Dani and I walked and jogged six miles out and back on the Ouachita Trail from a new park close to the Lake Maumelle spillway. We covered the 12 miles in 3:58:02. We went out in 2:00:53 and came back in 1:57:09.

Levy Trail South

I walked Levy Trail South this morning in 31:36.
This evening, I alternated four-minute walks with one-minute jogs to complete the Levy Trail Loop in 28:52.

War Memorial Golf Course

I played War Memorial Golf Course by myself this afternoon in 91, with nines of 45 and 46. I used 38 putts.

River Trail/River Trail North

Four other Geezers and I walked on the River Trail this morning from Burns Park Golf Course to the skateboard park and back. We were out for 1:23:09.
This afternoon, I walked Levy Trail North in 31:45.

Burns Park Loop

I did two laps of the Burns Park Loop this morning, the first alone in 1:36:39 and the second with six other Geezers in 1:55:40 for a c. 12-mile total of 3:32:20. I'm tired and hungrier than two motherfuckers.

Levy Trail North

I alternated three-minute walks with two-minute jogs to complete Levy Trail North this damp, cool morning in 28:11.

Levy Trail South/Oaklawn Park

I alternated one-minute jogs with four-minute walks to complete Levy Trail South this morning in 27:15.
By the way, I bet a total of $25 at Oaklawn Park on Saturday and lost it all and am now up $107.40 for the season.

Burns Park Loop

I walked and jogged the Burns Park Loop this morning in 1:37:22.
Halfway through the round of 32, Pam is in a six-way tie for sixth in the paper's NCAA Tournament bracket pool. As some of my readers are aware, she picked Virginia to win the whole motherfucker.

Oaklawn Park

HOT SPRINGS—I walked for 52:15 at lunchtime today, primarily through neighborhoods to the west of Oaklawn Park. While walking through the big cemetery close to the track, I noticed several toppled headstones, including one for Dr. A.J. Hathaway, born May 10, 1860, died April 27, 1919, inscribed: Gone but not forgotten.
I wonder how long it's been since that inscription turned into bullshit.

Burns Park Loop

I jogged about twenty percent of the time to complete the Burns Park Loop at lunchtime today in 1:37:49.
I bought a 24-tube case of Gu this morning for $12.95. Before I ran, I drove to a sporting-goods store to buy some golf balls. While there, I decided to pick up some Gu. Individual tubes went for $1.35, but they also had a few 24-tube cases with no price marked on them or anywhere nearby. I deliberated for about nine seconds before I uncharacteristically said to myself, fuck it, motherfucker, you know you can afford to not be so fucking cheap all the time. Just buy a fucking case, so what if it's thirty bucks? I was really kind of proud of myself, so you can imagine my absolute delight when, as a second thought nearly three hours after I walked out of the store, I reached in my living-room trash can for the receipt to learn that I bought 24 goddamn tubes of Mandarin Orange Gu for $12.95.
I'm pretty sure someone at the store fucked up, so I'm going back for more before they figure it out. I wonder what the shelf life of Gu is.

War Memorial Golf Course

Ed and I played War Memorial Golf Course this afternoon. I scored 88, with nines of 45 and 43, and Ed 92. I had 4 pars, 6 bogies, 6 doubles, 2 triples, and used 32 putts.

Burns Park Loop/Hash

I jogged right at forty percent of the time to complete the Burns Park Loop this morning in 1:29:07. This was again with the running-shoe-store sponsored group led by petepretty Elizabeth, but this time I may as well have been out there alone. The rest of the motherfuckers went at a full sprint.
This afternoon, I was out for 32:16 on a Hash run set a half mile or so from the Big Dam Bridge.

QUESTION OF THE DAY
Would you rather open a restaurant in Seattle called Snow Leopard Unlimited that features all-you-eat snow leopard* steaks, with a walk-in refrigerator full of butchered snow leopards (each of whom died of natural causes), or streak through the capitol buildings of all fifty states?
*most people had never heard of snow leopards until about two weeks ago, but now they are the stars of an advertisement for an animal-rights fund-raising group

Park Hill Loop/Oaklawn Park

I walked the Park Hill Loop this morning in 1:18:50, with splits of 15:54, 15:36, 15:19, and 32:01. It's sunny and very warm, so a tricky day to dress for the Oaklawn Park press box, which gets ridiculously cold when its air conditioners are on.
Despite the chill, I won a net of $18 at Oaklawn today on three bets that totaled $9. I'm up $132.40 after 11 trips.

Levy Trail South/War Memorial Golf Course

I played War Memorial Golf Course with John and Tim Biggs today. I scored 91 and John 109. Tim didn't keep score. I had nines of 45 and 46, had 2 pars, 8 bogies, 5 doubles, and 3 triples, and used 33 putts.
Last evening, I walked Levy Trail South in 30:35.

War Memorial Golf Course

Ed, John, and I played War Memorial Golf Course this morning and afternoon. Ed scored a 93. John scored 98, and I scored 106, with nines of 52 and 54. I used 37 putts.

Cook's Landing Loop

Several other Geezers and I walked the Cook's Landing Loop this morning in about two hours. I forgot to stop my watch. Elaine reported on Facebook that we went 6.67 miles.

Levy Trail Loop

I walked the Levy Trail Loop this morning in 32:38. Gosh, it's nearly balmy here. I wore sweat clothes and came in a bit uncomfortable.

I PLAN TO STAB...

I wrote a specific version of this several years ago after I heard someone apply it to dropping from a one-hundred-mile footrace, but I just heard an NPR reporter use it in a manner so egregious that I feel borderline compelled to stab her even though her error was made prior to the publication of this plan

I walked and jogged 7 miles on the Levy Trail in 1:40:17, with splits of 14:18, 14:08, 13:50, 14:30, 14:43, 14:11, and 14:38.
This afternoon, I walked around the perimeter of Oaklawn Park for 51:59. Before that, I won a net of $16.40 on two bets. After 10 trips, I'm up $114.40.

Pam's Path

I'm not sure how long it took me to walk and jog Pam's Path this morning, but it was somewhere close to 54 minutes. The splits were between roughly 13:20 and 13:50.

I alternated one-minute runs with four-minute walks this morning to complete Levy Trail South in 27:33.
