Levy Trail/Senior Center

I alternated one-minute jogs with four-minute walks to complete slightly over 5.5 miles on the Levy Trail this morning in 1:20:06, with splits of 14:23, 14:33, 14:13, 14:41, and 14:56. My right big toe hurt a bit. Had it not, I would've gone another mile and a half. It has started to rain again.
Late this afternoon, I walked three miles at the Senior Center in 46:57.

Fort Roots/Hash

I jogged and walked two laps of a four-mile loop with the same group I joined for a run two weeks ago. We started at the skateboard park on the river in North Little Rock and ran on the River Trail and up onto the trails around Fort Roots. I felt very fit. We were out for 2:17:12.
I was out with the Little Rock Hash House Harriers from Alsopp Park for 2:00:17 this afternoon. I'll say we went about five miles.

Pam's Path/Oaklawn Park

I walked Pam's Path this morning in 1:04:09. It was a lovely, overcast, early-fall like morning, until I had about a mile to go, when it started raining like two motherfuckers. This is getting old.
I bet a cold $5 exacta at Oaklawn Park today that hit and returned $38. After nine trips, I am up $98.

35th Street Loop/Levy Trail South

I walked and jogged a half-mile warmup and warm-down and alternated one-minute runs with one-minute walks for three miles to complete the 35th Street Loop this morning in 48:38. My splits were 12:51, 12:22, 11:10, and 12:15.
Late this afternoon, I walked Levy Trail South in 31:53.

33rd Street Loop/Oaklawn Park

I alternated four-minute walks with one-minute jogs to complete the 33rd Street Loop in 1:08:36, with splits of 13:46, 13:45, 13:29, 13:57, and 13:39.
My legs were a little sore to start. They were more than a little sore yesterday, surprisingly, from the 3 miles of non-stop running two days ago.
Monday afternoon at Oaklawn Park, I bet a total of $9. My return was exactly $7. After eight trips, I am up $65.

7 miles

I jogged Miles 1-3 nonstop, alternated one-minute jogs with four-minute walks through Miles 4 and 5, and two-minute jogs with three-minute walks through Miles 6 and 7 to complete 7 miles on the Levy Trail in 1:34:19, with splits of 12:57, 12:25, 12:31, 15:02, 14:04, 13:21, and 13:59. It rained through about eighty percent of the effort. Before I started, I hoped to jog the first 2 miles, but 3 went pretty easily.

War Memorial Golf Course

I played nine holes at War Memorial Golf Course this morning in 45. I had one par, four bogies, four doubles, and used 16 putts.

QUESTION OF THE DAY
In retrospect, who will the world look upon as more obnoxious: Chloe Kim or Malala Yousafzai?

Poplar Street Loop/Levy Trail North

I walked two laps of the Poplar Street Loop this morning in 16:04 and 15:45. My fastest time up the 33rd Street Hill was 6:36. Counting the walk over and back, I completed three miles in 49:01.
Late this afternoon, I walked Levy Trail North in 33:35.

Ouachita Trail/Levy Trail 5K/Oaklawn

I walked and jogged on the Ouachita Trail from the Pinnacle Mountain Visitors Center to the Lake Maumelle spillway and back, approximately eight miles, in 1:58:15. Mostly, I was with fellow Little Rock Hasher Elizabeth Kimble (who waited for me. Elizabeth is a 21-hour 100-mile sort).
Late this afternoon, I walked the Levy Trail 5K in 50:27. I went through three miles in 48:45.
Yesterday at Oaklawn Park, I won a return of exactly $69 on $9 bet. After seven trips, I am up $58. I had a $2 winner that paid $22.60 and a $2 exacta that paid $51.40. It was my most profitable gambling day since one in February of the 2010 Oaklawn season.

Orange Street Loop

I walked the Orange Street Loop this morning through a light mist in 47:00.

Friday, February 9, 2018

Levy Trail 5K/War Memorial Golf Course

I alternated 2:30 walks with 2:30 jogs to complete the Levy Trail 5K in 41:15, with splits of 13:29, 12:58, and 13:40. This is the best I have felt running since my comeback began.
John, Ed, and I played War Memorial Golf Course this morning and afternoon. Ed scored 91. I scored 99, and John scored 110. I had nines of 52 and 47 and used 42 putts.

Maple Street Loop/Pam's Path

I jogged for three minutes and otherwise walked the Maple Street Loop this morning in 29:49.
Late this afternoon, I walked Pam's Path in 1:03:13.

38th Street Loop

I walked the 38th Street Loop this morning in 30:49.

Tuesday, February 6, 2018

7 miles/Levy Loop

I alternated one-minute jogs with four-minute walks to complete 7 miles on the Levy Trail this morning in 1:36:42, with splits of 14:18, 13:29, 13:23, 14:19, 14:24, 12:46, and 14:03. The discrepant splits are most likely due to a 10-20-mile-an-hour wind blowing straight down from Camp Robinson. Headed north on the trail is slightly uphill anyway. This morning, it was also upwind.
Late this afternoon, I walked the Levy Loop in 29:53.

Monday, February 5, 2018

Pam's Path/38th Street Loop

I walked Pam's Path this afternoon in 1:04:22, with splits of 16:40, 16:08, 16:00, and 15:34.
Tonight, I walked the 38th Street Loop in 36:36.

Sunday, February 4, 2018

Poplar Street Loop/Hash

I did three laps of the one-mile Poplar Street Loop at lunchtime today, with the steep, roughly 3/8th-mile section on 33rd Street completed in 6:33, 6:28, and 6:11. Counting the half-mile trip out and back, I finished the four miles in 1:04:30.
By the way, for what I believe was the first time ever, I exercised outdoors while listening to the radio. I heard a woman comedian on National Public Radio try to explain to childless pet owners about a mother's love for her children: "Take the love you feel for your dog or your cat, and then multiply it by 0.7. ...and then divide it by 10."
I was out with the Little Rock Hash House Harriers for 1:01:05 on a run that began and ended at Tom Zaloudek's house. I don't think we went more than three miles. I bugged out on the Super Bowl party midway through the first quarter. I'm not sure I had ever before not been in front of a TV while a Super Bowl was underway. It was weird how sparse the traffic was.

33rd Street Loop/Oaklawn Park

I alternated two-minute jogs with three-minute walks to complete the 33rd Street Loop in 1:04:39, with splits of 13:06, 13:05, 12:59, 12:22, and 13:07.
It was a good warmup for Oaklawn Park, where I will report on the King Cotton Stakes, a six-furlong (or sprint) for older horses (four-years-old and up). The best story is a win for Ivan Fallunovalot (which is supposed to sound like a drunk person saying, "I've been falling off a lot"). A close race between Ivan and a horse named Wilbo, either way, will also do.
Wilbo won by two lengths over Ivan. My story went well.
I lost $5.40 today and am now down $11 after six trips.

DR. DIAMOND PETE'S PICK OF THE DECADE
Oaklawn Park, Race 2: Take #7 Rock Star Status to win; bet a cold 7-8 exacta, with Rock Star Status over #8 Johnny Whip

Result: Rock Star Status finished far back
