Levy Trail Loop/Cooks Landing/Levy Trail South

I walked and jogged the Levy Trail Loop this morning in 30:53. By the way, my new shoes came in yesterday. I got the name backward in my preview a few days ago. The brand is 361° (according to the box, they're "One degree beyond"). The model is Alpha. So far, I like them a lot. I will give them a couple of more days and then begin to seriously consider ordering nine more pairs (at a mere $32 per). There's plenty of room under both my beds.
Starting at 9 a.m., a little more than two hours after my first effort of the day, I walked for 54:07 with five other Geezers from Cooks Landing.
At 7:19 p.m., there is a windchill of 12° in Levy. I walked Levy Trail South in 32:42 this evening.

I PLAN TO STAB...
...people who don't goddamn wave back

UALR

I walked for 33:06 around the UALR campus late this afternoon before John Czarnecki joined me to watch the UALR women's basketball team beat the holy living dog fuck out of Louisiana-Lafayette.

Maple Street Loop

At 8:45 a.m., it's 19°F in Levy. I walked the Maple Street Loop in 30:48. My face stung for the first three-quarters of a mile.
I walked the Orange Street Loop this afternoon in 46:04, with splits of 15:11, 15:33, and 15:20.

Levy Trail

I walked north on the Levy Trail for about twenty-five minutes and then returned to my house through a couple of Park Hill neighborhoods, primarily on Locust Street. I was out of 53:14. It's well below freezing in Levy, even very late in the morning.

I walked the Levy Trail 5K this morning in 48:47 and went through three miles in 47:19.

Levy Trail North/Hash

I alternated one-minute jogs with four-minute walks through a cold mist to complete Levy Trail North in 28:00. Pre-Ed Buckner and weather.com motherfuckers would make a white-Christmas prediction based on the way it feels in Levy this morning.
Right before I started, I ordered a pair of $29 running shoes from Academy Sports based on appearance. They just looked like the kind of running shoes I've liked over the years. They are Alpha 361s. I assume Alpha is the make (that likely employs Cambodian children for around ten cents a day) and 361 the model. We'll see. By the way, a note from Academy warned that I might not receive them before Christmas.
This afternoon, I was out for 26:55 with the Little Rock Hash House Harriers from Don and Kayce Chaney's house. They agreed to take over the Christmas Hash run. It was a delight to skip out of there early to come home for football and leave the mess behind. This was the first Christmas Eve Christmas run since Dec. 24, 2006 (I rescheduled the last one for Dec. 17 so that we would have more than the nine people who showed up for the run in '06).

OVERHEARD
"Merry Christmas. We'll be back on New Year's Eve with a special edition of 60 Minutes."
—Bob Whitaker to close 60 Minutes on CBS, a fucking national television network. He said, no shit, merry Christmas. Fuck. It's the first time anyone at Pam's Boy has heard a network television employee say anything other than happy seasons since 1968. Surely heads will roll

Maple Street Loop

It is cold and wet and grayer than two motherfuckers in Levy. I walked the Maple Street Loop this morning in 32:39 to warm up for a trip to Nashville.
Last night, I walked a total of about a quarter of a mile between bars a few blocks apart on a Christmas themed Hash pub crawl. There are some new women in our group. The four I met impressed me: A lawyer named Paige, a speech pathologist named Chrissy, a nurse named Margaret (aka Clit Notes), and another who once ran with the Houston Hash and has the Hash name Easy Chair. I don't remember her real name. She has an understated, beautiful singing voice. You know, nothing showy, but clearly the product of a lifelong hobby.
By the way, home now in the early evening, I just watched a horse trained by Beverly Burress win the third race at Delta Downs in Vinton, Louisiana. I remember that her last race as a jockey at Oaklawn Park was in 2009. Two minutes of research at equibase.com showed that she last rode on September 22, 2013. I have wondered a bit what she was doing and just found out that her first entrant as a trainer raced on October 19 last year. Maybe she'll return to Oaklawn as a trainer.

Senior Center

I walked two miles at the Senior Center today in 30:54. It has rained harder than two motherfuckers here since daybreak.

I walked Levy Trail North this morning in 34:53.
Late this afternoon, I walked the Levy Trail Loop in 33:44.

Levy Trail Loop/War Memorial Golf Course

I alternated one-minute jogs with four-minute walks to complete the Levy Trail Loop this morning in 28:57.
John Czarnecki, Ed Pennington, and I played War Memorial Golf Course this afternoon. I scored 91, Ed 92, and John 108. I had 1 par, 10 bogies, 4 doubles, 3 triples, and used 33 putts.

OVERHEARD
"That's what my doctor keeps telling me."
—gray-haired 50+ man walking with a cane, after we had the following exchange:
"How far you going?"
"Just two miles."
"No, that's good. I wish I could go two blocks."
"One step at a time, man."

River Trail

Several other Geezers and I walked on the River Trail and all around the soccer fields at Burns Park this morning. I was out for a little over an hour and twenty-five minutes.
Now I'm at home, maintaining a tradition my father and I enjoyed over the course of our relationship. I remember from my childhood the way he and I would eagerly anticipate the Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl. Tonight it's Akron versus Florida Atlantic. If I had to bet, I would take the under on ten percent of either schools' student bodies watching this piece-of-shit football game.

Lakewood Lake No. 2/Levy Trail South

Several other Geezers and I walked for about an hour and a half from Lakewood Lake No. 2 this morning.
Never mind the old, here's how fat and slow I am. I jogged for a total of 12:53 and it still took me 30:13 to complete the two miles of Levy Trail South. But, all kidding aside, I felt pretty good. That's probably the most I've run in a single outing this year.

Levy Trail North

I walked Levy Trail North this morning in 33:52.

Saturday, December 16, 2017

Two Rivers Park

I walked for 39:16 through Two Rivers Park this morning as I covered the Jacob Wells 3 Bridges Marathon.

Levy Trail North

I walked Levy Trail North at lunchtime today in 31:46, which is goddamn nearly sprinting for me. I'll probably be sore later on.
Oh. By the way. For any of you fucks who check up on anything online that might be interpreted as a Hollywood death threat, the I PLAN TO STAB concept you read yesterday is solely intended to either make people laugh or bring their attention to matters of pretentiousness, hypocrisy, self-righteousness, and similar inescapable loads of bullshit that viewers have endured since the dawn of post-Milton Berle TV, as well as those sorts of things as they occur all over the fucking place. Once more: Rockamundo has never and will never stab anyone or anything, including the douche buckets he mentioned yesterday (Rockamundo the person, I mean. No one here can speak for the racehorse or members of the rock band also named Rockamundo).

Tuesday, December 12, 2017

McCain Mall

I walked through McMain Mall this evening for 41:50.

I PLAN TO STAB...
...Blake Shelton, Samuel L. Jackson, and Michael Strahan because they're self-important fucks who are on TV twenty-fours a day*
*this I PLAN TO STAB (which, by the way, are meant purely as tongue-in-cheek-humor; Rockamundo has no desire to stab anyone) was inspired by Pete's observation of a collection of Michael Strahan men's wear on sale at J.C. Penney's®

Lakewood Lake No. 2/Hindman Park Golf Course

John Czarnecki, Ed Pennington, and I played Hindman Park Golf Course this morning and afternoon. Ed scored 89. I scored 107 and John 111. I used 33 putts. I played the first six holes in 5-over and the final four in the same and absolutely stunk on the eight holes in-between (which I played in 23-over).
This morning, before the golf, I walked for almost exactly an hour at Lakewood Lake No. 2 with four other Geezers.

UCA

CONWAY—I jogged for a total of about five minutes and otherwise walked for 42:12 early this evening before I reported on UCA's basketball game with UALR at the Farris Center.

War Memorial Golf Course

John Czarnecki, Ed Pennington, and I played War Memorial Golf Course today. Ed scored 95 and John and I 99. I had nines of 49 and 50 and used 38 putts.

Levy Trail

Five other Geezers and I walked 2.75 miles on the Levy Trail this morning.

Wednesday, December 6, 2017

HIndman Golf Course/DFL

John Czarnecki, Ed Pennington, and I played Hindman Park Golf Course this morning. I scored 93, Ed 95, and John 112. I had 4 pars, 9 bogies, 4 doubles, 1 quadruple, and used 35 putts. We started at 8:30 a.m., when it was goddamn 39°F, so Frostbite could make his 2 p.m. pinko commie Audubon Society meeting.
The DFL Green Bay Packers lost 108.78-92.0 to The Carpetbaggers and finished out of the playoffs for the second consecutive season. Fuck.

Tuesday, December 5, 2017

Senior Center/Levy Trail North

I walked two miles at the Senior Center this morning in 34:54.
Late this afternoon, I walked Levy Trail North in 32:22.

OVERHEARD
"Hey, Jo. What's going on? Don't let Pete hide the prime rib from you."
—John Czarnecki, after he brought some leftover prime rib and hamburger patties from his church to my house

Monday, December 4, 2017

War Memorial Golf Course

Ed Pennington, John Czarnecki, and I played War Memorial Golf Course this morning. Ed scored 83. I scored 101, and John 107. I had nines of 53 and 48. This was a terrible scoring day for me. My swing is in good shape, but I kept hitting long, well past greens again and again.

UCA/Hindman Park Golf Course

CONWAY—I walked around the UCA campus yesterday for 42:57 before reporting on UCA's 21-15 loss to New Hampshire in the second round of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision* playoffs at Estes Stadium. My legs felt very lively and still do.
This afternoon I played the front nine at Hindman Park, from the yellow senior tees, in 44. I had 3 pars, 4 bogies, and 2 doubles.
*no shit, this is the best name the NCAA motherfuckers in Indianapolis could come up with for the level of football at which UCA plays

Friday, December 1, 2017

War Memorial Golf Course

I played War Memorial Golf Course this afternoon with John Czarnecki and Tim Biggs in 84, with nines of 44 and 40. I had 4 pars, 10 bogies, 3 doubles, and 1 quadruple, and I used 32 putts. This was the most consistent driving day I have had in years, perhaps since somewhere in the 2007-09 era.

QUESTION OF THE DAY
Would you rather hear Bono lecture on U.S. foreign and domestic policy or Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell sing Beautiful Day?
i.e. Does television so frequently expose the political position of actors and musicians for any reason other than to further brainwash the most brain washable among us?
e.g. Tim Allen and Tom Hanks can go blow themselves
