I walked and jogged the Levy Trail Loop this morning in 30:53. By the way, my new shoes came in yesterday. I got the name backward in my preview a few days ago. The brand is 361° (according to the box, they're "One degree beyond"). The model is Alpha. So far, I like them a lot. I will give them a couple of more days and then begin to seriously consider ordering nine more pairs (at a mere $32 per). There's plenty of room under both my beds.
Starting at 9 a.m., a little more than two hours after my first effort of the day, I walked for 54:07 with five other Geezers from Cooks Landing.
At 7:19 p.m., there is a windchill of 12° in Levy. I walked Levy Trail South in 32:42 this evening.

Maple Street Loop
At 8:45 a.m., it's 19°F in Levy. I walked the Maple Street Loop in 30:48. My face stung for the first three-quarters of a mile.
I walked the Orange Street Loop this afternoon in 46:04, with splits of 15:11, 15:33, and 15:20.

Levy Trail North/Hash
I alternated one-minute jogs with four-minute walks through a cold mist to complete Levy Trail North in 28:00. Pre-Ed Buckner and weather.com motherfuckers would make a white-Christmas prediction based on the way it feels in Levy this morning.
Right before I started, I ordered a pair of $29 running shoes from Academy Sports based on appearance. They just looked like the kind of running shoes I've liked over the years. They are Alpha 361s. I assume Alpha is the make (that likely employs Cambodian children for around ten cents a day) and 361 the model. We'll see. By the way, a note from Academy warned that I might not receive them before Christmas.
This afternoon, I was out for 26:55 with the Little Rock Hash House Harriers from Don and Kayce Chaney's house. They agreed to take over the Christmas Hash run. It was a delight to skip out of there early to come home for football and leave the mess behind. This was the first Christmas Eve Christmas run since Dec. 24, 2006 (I rescheduled the last one for Dec. 17 so that we would have more than the nine people who showed up for the run in '06).
OVERHEARD
"Merry Christmas. We'll be back on New Year's Eve with a special edition of 60 Minutes."
—Bob Whitaker to close 60 Minutes on CBS, a fucking national television network. He said, no shit, merry Christmas. Fuck. It's the first time anyone at Pam's Boy has heard a network television employee say anything other than happy seasons since 1968. Surely heads will roll

Maple Street Loop
It is cold and wet and grayer than two motherfuckers in Levy. I walked the Maple Street Loop this morning in 32:39 to warm up for a trip to Nashville.
Last night, I walked a total of about a quarter of a mile between bars a few blocks apart on a Christmas themed Hash pub crawl. There are some new women in our group. The four I met impressed me: A lawyer named Paige, a speech pathologist named Chrissy, a nurse named Margaret (aka Clit Notes), and another who once ran with the Houston Hash and has the Hash name Easy Chair. I don't remember her real name. She has an understated, beautiful singing voice. You know, nothing showy, but clearly the product of a lifelong hobby.
By the way, home now in the early evening, I just watched a horse trained by Beverly Burress win the third race at Delta Downs in Vinton, Louisiana. I remember that her last race as a jockey at Oaklawn Park was in 2009. Two minutes of research at equibase.com showed that she last rode on September 22, 2013. I have wondered a bit what she was doing and just found out that her first entrant as a trainer raced on October 19 last year. Maybe she'll return to Oaklawn as a trainer.

John Czarnecki, Ed Pennington, and I played War Memorial Golf Course this afternoon. I scored 91, Ed 92, and John 108. I had 1 par, 10 bogies, 4 doubles, 3 triples, and used 33 putts.

River Trail
Several other Geezers and I walked on the River Trail and all around the soccer fields at Burns Park this morning. I was out for a little over an hour and twenty-five minutes.
Now I'm at home, maintaining a tradition my father and I enjoyed over the course of our relationship. I remember from my childhood the way he and I would eagerly anticipate the Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl. Tonight it's Akron versus Florida Atlantic. If I had to bet, I would take the under on ten percent of either schools' student bodies watching this piece-of-shit football game.

Lakewood Lake No. 2/Levy Trail South
Several other Geezers and I walked for about an hour and a half from Lakewood Lake No. 2 this morning.
Never mind the old, here's how fat and slow I am. I jogged for a total of 12:53 and it still took me 30:13 to complete the two miles of Levy Trail South. But, all kidding aside, I felt pretty good. That's probably the most I've run in a single outing this year.

Oh. By the way. For any of you fucks who check up on anything online that might be interpreted as a Hollywood death threat, the I PLAN TO STAB concept you read yesterday is solely intended to either make people laugh or bring their attention to matters of pretentiousness, hypocrisy, self-righteousness, and similar inescapable loads of bullshit that viewers have endured since the dawn of post-Milton Berle TV, as well as those sorts of things as they occur all over the fucking place. Once more: Rockamundo has never and will never stab anyone or anything, including the douche buckets he mentioned yesterday (Rockamundo the person, I mean. John Czarnecki, Ed Pennington, and I played Hindman Park Golf Course this morning and afternoon. Ed scored 89. I scored 107 and John 111. I used 33 putts. I played the first six holes in 5-over and the final four in the same and absolutely stunk on the eight holes in-between (which I played in 23-over).

UCA/Hindman Park Golf Course
CONWAY—I walked around the UCA campus yesterday for 42:57 before reporting on UCA's 21-15 loss to New Hampshire in the second round of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision* playoffs at Estes Stadium. My legs felt very lively and still do.
This afternoon I played the front nine at Hindman Park, from the yellow senior tees, in 44. I had 3 pars, 4 bogies, and 2 doubles.

I played War Memorial Golf Course this afternoon with John Czarnecki and Tim Biggs in 84, with nines of 44 and 40. I had 4 pars, 10 bogies, 3 doubles, and 1 quadruple, and I used 32 putts. This was the most consistent driving day I have had in years, perhaps since somewhere in the 2007-09 era.

34th Street Loop/War Memorial Golf Course
I walked the three-mile version of the 34th Street Loop this morning in 47:57. I planned to cover the entire five miles but felt a bit dead-legged. John Czarnecki, Ed Pennington and I plan to play War Memorial Golf Course this afternoon, and I don't want fatigue to limit me.
Fatigue was only a bit of a problem. Hypoglycemia hammered me more quickly and as severely as it ever has during a golf round. We played War Memorial. Ed scored 95. I scored 98, and John 107. I had nines of 44 and 54 and used 40 putts. I had a five-hole stretch on the back during which I was 18-over par. During those five holes, I hit two balls into traffic, swung and missed twice, and used 14 putts. I had a four-putt.
We, nevertheless, had a hoot. I'm still laughing.
QUESTION OF THE DAY
Didn't everyone always know that Garrison Keillor was a groper?*
*Pam's Boy predicts that Jimmy Kimmel and Ron Howard go down by dinnertime tomorrow, and next up it'll be Al Roker, followed by PBS's Judy Woodruff

Several other Geezers and I walked from the Burns Park Golf Course Parking lot to the skate park and back on the River Trail this morning in 1:17:46.
Late this afternoon, I played nine holes at War Memorial Golf Course in 43, with 1 par, 7 bogies, and 1 triple. I used 16 putts. I played Nos. 4-12, a stretch of nine that has a par of 33, one more than either the front or back nines.
The NFL Packers lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 31-28, on a last-second 53-yard field goal. The DFL Packers beat the Sherwood Shigellas, 111.17-64.42 and will make the playoffs if they win and the Complete Sellouts and Last Chance FUs lose. There are several other routes that are too complex to bother with here.

War Memorial Golf Course
Man, I was about to go out for a walk but decided, out of the blue, to golf instead. I played the front nine at War Memorial Golf Course, right into the heart of dusk, in 44, with 3 pars, 4 bogies, 1 double, and 1 quadruple. I used 16 putts.
With unlimited golf available for $325 a year, it's hard for me to understand why everyone doesn't retire in the greater Levy metropolitan area.
It looks as if the DFL Green Bay Packers will win to go to 6-6. I'm not sure, but I think they will need a miracle on par with the parting of the goddamn Red Sea to make the playoffs. In an hour and a half, I will watch the NFL Green Bay Packers get killed in Pittsburgh by the Steelers.

QUESTION OF THE DAY
If turkey is so good, why do we only eat it twice a year? It's too bad the fucking Indians didn't bring the fucking Pilgrims a few goddamn chickens. Instead, we sentimental motherfuckers have spent the last four-hundred years trying to make turkeys taste as good as chickens. People have tried everything. They inject them with whatever they can think of, cook them upside down, coat them with butter and entire fucking spice wracks, fucking clean out the refrigerator so they can brine them for a week and a half; they, no shit, burn down their houses trying to deep-fat fry them in goddamn barrels, and still, they're not half as good as chickens cooked any way anyone can name.
Think about it. What's the last chain of turkey restaurants you've heard of? When's the last time you saw an advertisement for an all-you-can-eat buffet in or during which anyone so much as fucking mentioned turkey? Have you ever seen turkey on a non-holiday related menu anywhere, ever?
Fuck turkey.
And, please, don't get me started on cranberry sauce, stuffing, tomato aspic, or giblet gravy.
I PLAN TO STAB...
...the next person who counters today's question of the day with, "I eat turkey sandwiches all year round." Cleary, fucking clearly, that's not even close to what I'm talking about, so that person gets stabbed for somehow categorizing processed, packaged sandwich meat with the leather-and-rubber bird that gets pulled out of ovens all across America two fucking days a year

PARAGRAPHS OF THE DAY*
A rare exception to UCA’s workmanlike approach to the game came early. On the second play from scrimmage, at 2nd-and-13 from the UCA 22, Hildebrand faked a handoff to freshman Kierre Crossley and looked to see senior slot receiver Brandon Cox run clear of junior safety Brandon Richmond. Hildebrand’s upwind pass hit Cox in full stride, 40 yards downfield, and Cox maintained his five-yard gap on Richmond to the end zone. The 78-yard play gave UCA a 7-0 lead with less than a minute gone in the game.
“I don’t think they really expected us to take a deep shot into the wind that quick,” Hildebrand said. “It caught them off guard, and luckily I threw it just far enough for Brandon to get it.”
*before tonight, I don't believe I had ever so much as said the word workmanlike. I had to look it up to see whether or not there were hyphens involved

Joe T. Robinson
Before Joe T. Robinson High beat the fuck out of Dardanelle High out a bit past the Chenal-Highway 10 WalMart Super Center where I once tried to buy a temporary fishing license for an Asian-looking woman, I walked for 37:14 around the Robinson campus.
By the way, the answer to yesterday's question of the day was Jameis Winston, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback who once was arrested for stealing crab legs from a Publix in Tallahassee about two weeks after he won the fucking Heisman Trophy. The NFL is investigating reports that he groped an Uber driver.
QUESTION OF THE DAY
When did grope become a common English word?

Hindman Park Golf Course
John Czarnecki, Ed Pennington, and I played the back nine at Hindman Park Golf Course this morning. It started to rain on No.12. Within a hole or two, it began to rain hard and did not quit until I was about half-way home. John scored 51. I scored 53 and Ed 54. I played Nos. 10, 11, and 18 in a total of 13-over and the other six holes in 4-over. I used 12 putts, which might be my fewest ever for nine holes. I had six consecutive one-putts.
My swing is out of whack. My plan now is to not play until two weeks from today.

Ghetto Cat Loop/DFL
I walked the Ghetto Cat Loop this morning 34:16.
This afternoon I golfed for a little over an hour at War Memorial Golf Course. I think I worked a couple of things out. We'll see tomorrow.
For the first time this season, the outcomes differed for the NFL and DFL Green Bay Packers. The NFL team defeated the Shitcago Bears. The DFL Packers lost to the team formerly known as Krup's Kids, 104.42-95.45

War Memorial Golf Course
This was one of those weird golf days during which it seemed as if I had never played. Ed Pennington and I played War Memorial Golf Course. Ed scored 78. I scored 109. My best cure for those sorts of rounds has been to take at least a couple of weeks off. Unfortunately, I have already committed to a round at Hindman Park on Wednesday.

UALR
Before I wrote a story for the paper about the UALR women's 86-57 victory over Memphis at the Jack Stephens Center (the place over by the Krupsaw's) this afternoon, I walked for 42:45 through and around the UALR campus, which looks great, much lovelier than during my student years.
By the way, UALR's first-year junior forward Yanina Inkina bubbles over with pete-prettiness. She's a 6-2 blonde from Minsk, Belarus, who plays for the Belarusian national team. I interviewed her after the game and figure at least half of UALR's students, faculty, and staff already have a thing for her.

Levy Loop/DFL
I walked the Levy Loop this evening in 34:12.
This Aaron Rodgers shit works both ways. Following his season-ending injury, the NFL and DFL Green Bay Packers have lost four consecutive games to fall to 4-5. Both teams turned from championship contenders to fucking dog turds.
QUESTION OF THE DAY
Do you think people will, at last, begin to recognize Bill Cosby as one of the great trendsetters in entertainment history?

War Memorial Golf Course
John Czarnecki, Ed Pennington, and I played War Memorial Golf Course this morning and afternoon. It was dark gray, cold, and a bit rainy. Ed and I scored 87 and John 101. I had nines of 42 and 45, with 5 pars, 6 bogies, 4 doubles, and 3 triples. I used 32 putts.

War Memorial Golf Course/DFL
It felt like a British Open. Ed Pennington and I played War Memorial Golf Course late this morning and early afternoon through cool mist and wind. Ed scored an 86. I scored 92, with nines of 45 and 47. I had 3 pars, 6 bogies, 5 doubles, 4 triples, and used 33 putts. I pitched poorly today, pulled two long shots, and had two shanks. On the bright side, I hit five drives and they traveled between 210 and 240 yards, something missing from my game for several years until recently.
In late July, on No. 7 at War Memorial, something clicked that returned reasonable distance to my shots. I think it was on July 24. I took a big ol' easy fluid practice swing and thought I had found it. I then hit a 200-yard three-wood that caused Ed, John, and Tim to say holy fuck or the equivalent. John said it was the farthest he had seen me hit a shot. I have hit full shots with my driver and fairway woods similar to that since, each after having gone the previous five years hitting 180-yard drives and 150-yard three-woods at best. For the last three and a half months, I finally have the distance to hit every green in regulation on any reasonable course.
I have one DFL player going tonight, Green Bay wide receiver Devante Adams. We trail Big Ballers, 93.54-75.82. I will need a big game to win. Adams needs somewhere in the neighborhood of six catches for 100 yards and one touchdown. That would give me eighteen points. I need 17.72. He gives games like that about twice a season, so I have right at a 12.5 percent chance to win, which is enough to make me watch, particularly since the Packers are going all the way around in this one.
QUESTION OF THE DAY
Since the hero of the Texas church massacre used the same kind of gun as the villain, who wins? (and go ahead and fuck the dead people. These conservatives and liberals don't care about them or, as always, anything other than whatever result supports their ideologies) From my perspective here in Levy, the NRA's gotta be doing backflips, don't you think?

Arkansas Tech
RUSSELLVILLE—Shortly after watching Arkansas Tech beat the cow fuck out of Southeastern Oklahoma State, I walked around the Tech campus a bit and then to the former Aikman house, where I spent probably half of my junior high and high school life, where Aunt Jean fried some of the best chicken ever fried and Uncle Bob made hot tamales and boiled shrimp and crawfish that combined to highlight the culinary wonder of my youth. I was out for 39:51. I don't speak much about Bob's tamales, but they were by far the best I have ever tasted. I mean, much, much better than any other tamale, which to me are in general a kind of ordinary, somewhat bland thing. The recipe remains in the family. My cousin Crutch said he has made them a few times. They, however, take literally hours to prepare. In the heart of the depression, my maternal grandfather, who had also mastered the recipe, turned down an opportunity to make them for a restaurant in Nashville. Granny told me years ago that the extra money he was offered would have made a significant difference, but that Pop said, to paraphrase, "Fuck it. No way. I don't care how much we can make. I'm not spending the rest of my life rolling up goddamn tamales."

War Memorial Golf Course
The only thing that could make a day like today any better is a good girlfriend, though only by a little. I played War Memorial Golf Course this afternoon and early evening with John Czarnecki and Ed Pennington. I scored a 78, with nines of 37 and 41. John scored 93. Ed had to quit after 12 holes. He went through nine in 42 and played the next three holes in 2-over. I had 2 birdies, 5 pars, 7 bogies, 3 doubles, 1 triple, and used 31 putts. Both birdies rolled within inches of going in for holes-in-one.
After all that, I walked into my house about a half hour before the first pitch of Game 7.

Tim Biggs and I played War Memorial Golf Course this morning. I scored 88, with nines of 45 and 43. Tim quit after 12 holes. He played the front nine in 50. I had 3 pars, 8 bogies, 5 doubles, 2 triples, and used 34 putts.

War Memorial Golf Course/Levy Trail Loop/DFL
I walked the Levy Trail Loop this morning in 33:18 as a warmup for a drive through Hot Springs to pick up Jim and Karen for a trip to Nashville. As much as I love Jim, I wish he wanted to eat dinner at McClard's rather than Outback Steakhouse (where they're having an all-you-can-eat fried-shrimp deal. He and dad shared a penchant for chain restaurants, particularly when they were having specials advertised on TV).
Yesterday afternoon, I played War Memorial Golf Course with UALR students named Billy and Ian in 94 with nines of 41 and 53. I birdied No. 7 with a nine-wood to two feet, but I quadrupled Nos. 15 and 18). I used 35 putts.
The NFL Green Bay Packers lost to the New Orlean Saints, 26-17. The DFL Packers lost to the Fat Chicks, 86.12-72.91.

War Memorial Golf Course
I had a private little battle with hypoglycemia throughout most of my round this morning with Don and Kayce Chaney and Don's friend Rilo at War Memorial Golf Course. It was weird. Kayce asked me if I was OK at one point on the back nine after I'd eaten about my fourth PayDay. That's a reasonable excuse for my 102, but you gotta combine that with the fact that Don and Rilo had music playing from their carts the whole round, and that all three of my partners drank beer and Mimosa's from 8:30 a.m. forward. Furthermore, unlike my usual company, those two guys were mad as hell about half the time. I wasn't the only one to play a shitty round.
Nevertheless, I believe everyone had a lot of fun, particularly Kayce and me.
The following was mistakingly published at Rock Dreams on Friday afternoon:
I played War Memorial Golf Course this morning with Tim Biggs, John Czarnecki, and Ed Pennington. I scored 91. John scored 92, Tim 100, and Ed 45 for the front nine before he left to fuck with his wife's car. I had nines of 45 and 46 and used 32 putts. I had 2 pars, 8 bogies, 6 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 quadruple. By the way, I've worked out my pitch-shot problems and am hitting them nearly as well as ever. Furthermore, I ordered and received a 60° wedge identical to the one Chris Vratil bought me in early December, 2007, that I lost at First Tee six years ago. I hit it great today.

Burns Park/War Memorial Golf Course
I had a hard fall this morning. As I walked and jogged on the rather flat trails near the covered bridge, I tripped over something. When I hit, I felt a jolt of pain run up the back of my left leg from knee to hip. I was up in ten seconds and away in about thirty and out for maybe ten more minutes before I got back to my car, which is where I noticed I was bleeding pretty good from my kneecap. I alternated one-minute jogs with four-minute walks for 48:10.
I'm interested to see how my leg feels through the day and whether it affects golf tomorrow morning.
The leg's OK. I played six holes using three and four balls at War Memorial Golf Course this evening before Thursday Night Football. I was hitting the ball well, particularly with my driver. I also hit a few nice iron shots, but mostly, I was pleased to have hit a bunch of nice pitch shots, ten to thirty yards out. That's a shot I haven't had since I started playing again last October. I can't wait to try a couple tomorrow.

There aren't many things more enjoyable for me than golf in perfect weather with people I like. John Czarnecki, Ed Pennington, and I played War Memorial Golf Course this morning. I scored 90 and John 97. Ed played the back nine with us in 45. I had nines of 46 and 44 and used 30 putts. I'm not sure, of course, but this might have been the lowest I have ever scored without a par. I had 12 bogies, 4 doubles, and 2 triples.

The DFL and NFL Green Bay Packers lost Aaron Rodgers and their games today. Rodgers broke his collarbone early in the first quarter. The DFL Packers lost to the Complete Sellouts, 105.52-79.90. The NFL Packers lost to Minnesota, 23-10. They said Rodgers might be out for the season. He also broke his collarbone in 2013, when he missed seven games but returned to direct the Packers on a decent playoff run.

I played with John Czarnecki, Tim Biggs, and Steve Grace this morning at War Memorial Golf Course. I didn't join them until they reached No. 13. For six holes, I had five bogies and one double. Six other Geezers and I walked for somewhere in the neighborhood of two hours around downtown Little Rock and North Little Rock from the parking lot of the Clinton Presidential Center. There are all sorts of new sculptures and the like down by the river on the Little Rock side. We spent quite a bit of time standing around looking at stuff, which helps to explain why we only covered 4.7 miles.

J.A. Fair/Arkansas Traveller 100 Miler
WILLIAMS JUNCTION — Today I was out for 49:52, including a little over eight minutes spent jogging with the eventual winner of the Arkansas Traveller 100 Miler from the Lake Winona Aid Station.
Last night, I walked for 40:23 before I watched Parkview High School beat the cow shit out of Beebe at J.A. Fair's War Eagle Stadium that is, as a crow flies, about a quarter of a mile from the theatre where Erin Vratil and I watched a movie more than 11 years ago about Japanese losers packed into a cave during World War II.

I mean, come on, how about, "Each player on the Minnesota Vikings' roster was raped by the driver of their team bus before she drove it off a bridge into Lake Michigan, killing all aboard."? I walked and jogged the 38th Street Loop this morning in 32:02. My jogs lasted 1:32 and 1:52 and were limited to however long I could go without feeling so much as a hint of discomfort.

Fuck fall.
It's cool to have a quarterback who plays for your DFL and NFL teams, particularly when he's as good as Aaron goddamn Rodgers. The motherfucker directed an improbable second-half comeback to put the DFL Green Bay Packers so far ahead that Yahoo gives the Turtle Creek Skins a one-percent chance of winning our game. The Skins have four players going on Monday Night Football but trail 118.56-39.49. The NFL Packers trailed the piece-of-shit Cincinnati Bengals 21-7 at halftime, but Rodgers played the entire second half by himself. No kidding. Watch the highlights. All the other Green Bay players and coaches stayed in the dressing room after halftime. The second half was nothing but a bunch of Bengals, eleven at a time, bowing to Rodgers as he single-handedly defeated them in overtime, 27-24.

War Memorial Golf Course
I played War Memorial Golf Course this morning with Tim Biggs, John Czarnecki, and Tiny Tim in 94. Ed scored 88 and John 104. Tim quit after thirteen holes. I had nines of 43 and 51 and used 34 putts. It was hotter than two motherfuckers.

Ed Pennington and I played War Memorial Golf Course this morning. I scored 95, with nines of 43 and 52, and Ed scored 88. I lost my scorecard and am unsure about my putt count. It wasn't particularly good.
The DFL Green Bay Packers went to 2-0 with a 106.54-73.15 victory over Trojan Men. The NFL Packers dropped to 1-1 with a 34-23 loss to the goddamn Atlanta Falcons.

Ghetto Cat Loop
I walked the Ghetto Cat Loop this afternoon in 31:56.
Speaking of Ghetto Cats, Jo is currently in a place and position that has only recently become somewhat common to her. She is perched in the classic cat pose to my side on the right arm of my maroon recliner. You know, seated with vertically straight front legs. It appears she's watching football with me.
By the way, I began to routinely sit in the maroon chair rather than on the right side of my couch about a year ago, thus breaking a fourteen-year-old habit.

We're lucky eggs are not as fragile as my golf swing. If they were, this world would be populated by single-cell organisms and nothing the fuck else. I played War Memorial Golf Course this morning with John Czarnecki in 109. John scored 107. I used 40 putts.

Burns Park Loop
Someone has once again lengthened the Burns Park Loop. The trail from the parking lot no longer goes directly toward I-40. It instead winds all the fuck over the place before it connects to the former trail near the top of the nearest ridge. GPS measurements say it's now about six miles long, up from former estimates of approximately 5.6. I question the current estimate—at least relative to the former—since it took us nearly eleven minutes longer than usual to get to the wooden bridge.
Several other Geezers and I walked the new version this morning in 1:57:41.

River Trail/Rebsamen short-nine
I walked 4.75 miles this morning with the Geezers from the Burns Park Golf Course parking lot. Sandy Venable and Ron and Elaine Gimblet joined me. We were on the River Trail most of the way, though we did make a big fucking loop around the soccer fields and dog park.
It seems like I have said and written that I would never again play the Rebsamen short-nine, but I was out there chipping and putting when John Czarnecki and Gil showed up, so to maintain my long tradition of lying like two motherfuckers, I played and scored 40, with 2 pars, 6 bogies, and 1 double. I used 15 putts. It was a great chipping day for me.

Levy Trail South/DFL
At 5:33 p.m., it's overcast, windy, and 63°F. I walked Levy Trail South late this afternoon in 31:26.
The fantasy Green Bay Packers began its 21st Democrat Football League season with a 125.71-94.08 victory over the Kruptilians, owned by Jeff Krupsaw's son, Daniel. We ended the first week in first place over the other thirteen DFL teams.
The NFL Packers defeated the Seattle C-Wordhawks, 17-9. If anyone ever talks to Heidi Whateverherlastnameisnow'Icannotremember, please tell her that her expression on Buttbook with her Packers partner epitomizes the sort of feelings that Packers owners wish for all people associated with the professional football team from Seattle

Levi Trail South
I walked Levy Trail South this morning in 33:21. This evening I will report on a football game from Henderson State for the first time since 2008. The Reddies will host the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys. Apparently, I will get to cover my old state-college beat when UCA doesn't play at home, which pleases me greatly. I love going to NCAA Division II games in Arkansas.

War Memorial Golf Course
John Czarnecki, Tim Biggs, and I played War Memorial Golf Course this morning. I scored 96, with nines of 48 and 48. Tim scored 110 and John 113. I had 3 pars, 5 bogies, 5 doubles, 4 triples, and 1 pentagonal, and I used 38 putts. Two weeks ago, I scored 76 on the same motherfucker. I only hit one bad shot the entire round that day. No kidding, I missed one putt inside five feet. It was a nearly perfect round for me, maybe the best I have ever played, and virtually unrepeatable.

Hurricane Irma
KEY WEST, Fla.—Hurricane Irma, a dangerous Category 5 storm containing the most powerful winds ever recorded in the Atlantic Ocean, is ravaging the Caribbean and will destroy most of the northern hemisphere, forecasters say.
The small islands of the northern Leewards, including Antigua and Barbuda, as well as the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Hispañola, the Bahamas, and Cuba were on the verge of rolling into one and beginning a sweep across a swath of the U.S. from New Mexico to Maine which, sustained by winds that reached the speed of light on Tuesday, would kill no fewer than a billion people.
"The good news is that everyone probably has enough stuff at their houses as I speak," FEMA director Rockamundo said. "I mean, by halftime of the Thursday night NFL game, almost everyone east of Oklahoma will consider themselves lucky so long as they're dead."
Experts say complete recovery could take a trillion years.

Hash
This morning, I set my first real Hash run since Christmas, 2003. It started at the Emerald Park parking lot and ran across the old Fort Roots Golf Course and over the Emerald Park trails. It took me 1:52:55 to set. Hashers with GPS watches said the run covered about four miles. They started at 10 a.m. There were a lot of complaints Friday and yesterday, but the twenty-five people who showed up seemed to have a blast. I think everyone approved.
Now I'm home watching an NFL preseason tripleheader, which of course was the fucking idea.

War Memorial Golf Course/Levy Loop
Most of my friends who will likely drown or be battered to death later today are probably disinterested in my golf performance, but I guess their power and cell service are probably out anyway, so for the rest of you, I played War Memorial Golf Course this morning with John Czarnecki, Tim Biggs, and Ed Pennington and scored 76, with nines of 38 and 38. John scored 101, Tim 106, and Ed 96. It was my all-time best round relative to par. I was 12-over. Heretofore, my best in that category has been 14-over. I had 1 birdie, 10 pars, 3 bogies, 3 doubles, 1 quadruple, and used 31 putts.
Late this evening, I walked the Levy Loop in 32:10.

War Memorial Golf Course/Levy Trail 5K
Someone mowed the greens on the back nine at War Memorial Golf Course so that they were as fast or faster than any I have ever putted on. I played with John Czarnecki and Ed Pennington, and they were unlike anything in any of our experiences. I three putted five greens on the back and two on the front. For the round, I used 41 putts, which I believe is a new record by one. I scored an 89 and John 110. I had 2 pars, 9 bogies, 6 doubles, and 1 quadruple.
John said he noticed the temperature drop as looked at the total solar eclipse. He was also in Missouri, about fifty miles northwest of Farmington. That's something I failed to investigate. Giving no thought to it, I didn't notice any change. I'll check next time.
This evening I walked the Levy Trail 5K in 47:05. I went through three miles in 45:40. My legs felt better after having walked a round of golf than I can ever remember. I might try to run a bit in the morning.
OVERHEARD

Five other Geezers and I walked for 1:06:21 on the Levy Trail this morning.
James Barr asked in an email that he sent at about 4:30 p.m. if I wanted to golf with him. Though I have plans to play each of the next three days, I jumped at his offer. I played Holes 1-13 and 18 with 3 pars, 6 bogies, 4 doubles, and 1 triple, and I used 26 putts. I played the front nine in 43.

Florissant, Mo.
FLORISSANT, MO.—I walked for 1:17:59 near my brother Jim's house this morning. I started and finished on Central Parkway but spent quite a bit of time on a jogging-biking trail that leads up to Sunset Park, which overlooks the Missouri River. I didn't know it existed, though it seems like a perfect park for anything from large gatherings to intimate picnics and touch football games. I could not resist a return to Central Parkway on Foggy Bottom Drive.

Forest Park Hawthorne Course
ST. LOUIS—John Perkins and I played the nine-hole Hawthorne Course at Forest Park this afternoon. I scored 46 and John 52. It was a par 35. John would be very good if he played much. I had 1 par, 6 bogies, 1 double, and 1 triple. I was three for three with my driver but didn't putt particularly well. We had a blast. John's kids and Lindsey were wonderful during the hour or so we were together at their house.

I predict the Japanese fuck will win the PGA this evening and that someone will raise hell about Kisner's tobacco habit.
I'm not sure about this, but I think the last time before this evening that I golfed after the final round of a major was in 1997, when Walt Webb, Jen Reynolds, and I played Rock Creek after Tiger Woods won his first Masters. I just got in from War Memorial Golf Course, where I played Nos. 1, 2, 7-10, 12, 13, and 18, or nine holes with a total par of 34 in 39. I had 2 birdies, 3 pars, 1 bogey, and 3 doubles. I used 14 putts. I'm pretty sure this was the first time I have ever birdied consecutive holes. I birdied the Par 5 12th with a sand wedge to four feet and the Par 3 13th with a 60° wedge chip-in from 15 feet. That gives me eight birdies for the year, which I believe is by far the most I have had in one year.
I'm on a nice run, but my game remains as fragile as ever. It's just a matter of time before I start sucking dicks again.
QUESTION OF THE DAY
Does anyone else think Rickie Fowler should get married just so he'll have someone in his life to tell him to quit wearing orange pants every fucking Sunday?

South Orange Street Loop
I alternated one-minute jogs with four-minute walks on a new roughly four-mile loop from the Senior Center that goes along South Orange Street into a part of North Little Rock I haven't spent much time in. In fact, I ran across a two-lane wooden bridge, open to traffic on 14th Street, I had never before seen. It smelled of tar, like the runaway-train or log rides at Six Flags. When I got back to the Center, I walked a mile on the indoor track just to dry out before I showered. In all, I covered a little over five miles in 1:21:08.

Our Geezer grouped was joined this morning by a young woman named Dani, an occasional Hasher. She's hard to not like, best I can tell. Sandy Venable, Bill Brass, YT Thompson, Rosemary, Dani, and I walked the Burns Park Loop. Sandy walked off and left us. Brass and I finished a few minutes in front of the other women in 1:52:18.
I took four units of Novolog before I ate a serving of oatmeal (1/2 cup) with a serving of blueberries (3/4 cups) for breakfast. I think two units would have been enough. I really wobbled through the last twenty-five minutes or so.

Cooks Landing/War Memorial Park Golf Course
I walked with a bunch of Geezers this morning at Cooks Landing. We went about seven miles in 1:55:04.
This evening I played golf with James Barr and his retired friend Mike Wilson. They are two nice men. James is 60 and Mike 66. We played the front nine at War Memorial Golf Course and Holes 9-13 and 18 of the back. I scored a 44 for the front. James scored 36 and Mike 42. Lakewood Lake No. 2/War Memorial Golf Course
I walked for 1:58:37 around Lakewood Lake No. 2 and nearby neighborhoods with Ron and Elaine this morning to cover about 6.5 miles.
I played 12 holes of War Memorial Golf Course by myself this evening in 15-over 59. I had 2 pars, 6 bogies, 3 doubles, and 1 triple, and I used 21 putts. I scored a 44 for the front nine with 17 putts. After I parred the first two holes, an uphill 168-yard par 3 and a 370-yard par-4 with a 90-degree dog leg right at 220 yards, I was afraid I might score too well to feel free reporting it, sort of like if I were to hit a hole in one while golfing alone. Those holes are ranked as War's third and first toughest, respectively. It's a good thing I tripled No. 3.

Pam's Path/War Memorial Golf Course
I walked the four-mile Pam's Path late this morning in 1:03:44. My legs feel great. I have weighed under 190 for the last three days, so I'm there for the first time since December, 2014. That helps, I guess.
This will sound like bullshit, but I walked in the door no more than a minute before kickoff of the first football game since early February. The Arizona Cardinals are hosting the Dallas Cowfucks in an absolutely meaningless preseason game that I have longed for since right around my goddamned birthday. I hurried through ten holes at War Memorial Golf Course to make it. I played with a very nice gray-haired fifty-something-year-old man named James Barr. I scored a 47 for the first ten holes, with nine in 42. I had 1 par, 8 bogies, and 2 doubles and used 21 putts. I averaged 230 on four drives and 210 on three 3-woods, which is killing it for me. My putting kind of sucked.
QUESTION OF THE DAY*
Has there ever been a more admirable television character than Matt Dillon, and if so, who was he or she? If not, was any other even comparable?

Has there ever been a more admirable television character than Matt Dillon, and if so, who was he or she? If not, was any other even comparable?

Two Rivers Park/Levy Trail South
I walked for a total of 2:07:44 at Two Rivers Park this morning, the first 1:21 with the Geezers and the final three miles or so by myself on the River Trail to the Big Dam Bridge and back. I estimate that I covered 7.2 miles.
This evening I walked Levy Trail South in 34:31.

Levy Trail Loop/War Memorial Golf Course/Maple Street Loop
I walked the Levy Trail Loop this morning, after about twenty minutes of tough yard work, in 32:18. Let's see how these efforts will affect my round of golf, set to begin with John Czarnecki and perhaps Tim Biggs and Gil in about half an hour.
John Czarnecki and I golfed this morning with Steve Grace at War Memorial Golf Course. Some of my longtime readers might remember Steve from a group I played with years ago at First Tee that included a Chinese guy named Bill, a South Korean whose name I can't recall (who taught me nice things to say to Korean golfers at the 2011 U.S. Women's Open), and a dentist named Steve Beatstra. I scored a 92, with nines of 47 and 45. John scored 96 and Steve 78. I used 34 putts but never three-putted. I had 1 birdie, 2 pars, 4 bogies, 9 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 quadruple.
Tonight I alternated one-minute jogs with one-minute walks and two-minute walks to complete the Maple Street Loop in 28:55, with splits of 14:34 and 14:21. I have new $19.95 shoes, the BCG Surge, which might replace the Evades when the seven or eight pairs I have left wear out. These are slightly mushier and have a bit of a disco look to them, but they felt fine. I can imagine getting used to them. In fact, they felt better as I went this evening. I am not, however, yet ready to order ten pairs.

Camp Robinson/War Memorial Golf Course
I alternated one-minute jogs with four-minute walks to complete the 5.4 miles to Camp Robinson and back on the Levy Trail this afternoon in 1:25:02.
Smart senior golf card holders, like me, can make Hindman Park and War Memorial Golf Courses into practice gems. Just show up a couple of hours before sunset, when no one wants to plunk down $11-20 to play less than a full round of golf, and they have the whole fucking course to themselves. Tonight I started at 6:20 p.m., played the front nine and Nos. 12, 14, and 18 on the back. I scored a 45 for the front and had one bogey and two doubles on the three final holes. I may as well have owned the course. I never saw anyone, except a few guys in carts playing the last few holes when I got there.

Levy Trail 5K/Hash
I alternated one-minute jogs with four-minute walks to complete the Levy Trail 5K this morning, at about 10 a.m., in 44:57. I went through three miles in 43:37.
This afternoon I walked and jogged for about forty minutes with the Little Rock Hash from Mayweather Park, which is about five blocks away from Tom and Corky Zaloudek's house.

Downtown Little Rock/War Memorial Golf Course
I walked with Ron and Elaine, Jayme and her hot new girlfriend Kayla, and Y.T. for 1:59:19 this morning. We went a little over six miles from the Clinton Library to MacArthur Park and then the River Trail en route to the River Market. It was fun and relatively comfortable. It's suddenly dry and almost cool here.
I did something this evening I wish I had thought of earlier in the summer: At about 7 p.m., I drove fast as hell to War Memorial Golf Course, where I played Nos. 1, 2, 7, 8, and Nos. 10 and 12 with two balls, so a total of eight holes. It was almost dark when I walked off the No. 12 green, which is about two-hundred yards from the clubhouse parking lot. I had 1 birdie, 2 pars, 3 bogies, and 2 doubles, and used 13 putts. By the way, I put a new, extra-large grip on a 1970 women's putter (an Acushnet Bulls Eye La Femme) with which I cannot miss. It's probably going to make me rich and more famous than two motherfuckers.

I walked the Burns Park Loop with Bill and Jan Brass, Y.T., and Sandy Venable this morning in 1:51:04. Jan and I met for the first time (and I'm gonna put the over-under on the years of hers and Bill's marriage at twenty-four).

War Memorial Golf Course/Senior Center
John Czarnecki, Tims Biggs, Ed Pennington, and I played War Memorial Golf Course this morning. I scored 90, John 92, Ed 93, and Tim 102. I used 37 putts. The score doesn't reflect it, but I played better today than I have since 2011 or 2012. Two drives averaged 227 yards. I walked off four three-woods that averaged 212. Also, for the first time since 2011, I felt comfortable and confident hitting full iron shots. I hit only one really crappy, shank-like shot through the whole round. On top of all that, it wasn't particularly hot today. I'm home watching Gunsmoke without any thought of changing clothes.
I had 3 pars, 7 bogies, 6 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 quadruple.
I walked two miles on the Senior Center track this afternoon in 35:49.

Levy Trail North/Senior Center
One of the nice things about Jordan Spieth winning major golf tournaments is that there's no need to stick around for his post-game interview. Immediately after spending six hours in front of my televisions, I walked the Levy Trail North in 34:56. I planned to go four miles, but it was so hot that I turned around and now plan to drive to the Senior Center for Miles three and four.
I walked two miles around the 13.5-laps-a-mile Senior Center track this afternoon in 31:58.

War Memorial Park Golf Course/Senior Center
I'm not sure I have ever been quite as miserably uncomfortable as I was this morning out at War Memorial Golf Course. I scored 96 and used 38 putts. Tim scored 96 and John 97. Three minutes after I walked in, everything I had on, down to my socks and underpants, was hung on the shower rod. It was 95°F with a heat index of 109 when I got home a few minutes before noon.
On my way to the course, I drove by an RBC billboard on I-630 near downtown that I had never noticed before. It stood out this morning because it had a live scoreboard from the Open Championship on it.
This afternoon I walked two miles around the tiny track at the Hays Senior Center in 31:55.

Levy Trail
I walked on the Levy Trail and a few particularly shady side streets down around the old Dixie Pig at lunchtime for 44:51, then I watched a 13-year-old North Little Rock eighth grader beat an 18-year-old freshman Lady Razorback in the semifinal round of the Arkansas State Golf Association Girls' Matchplay Championship at Eagle Creek Golf Course (the last time I was on that course, someone made me a fried-chicken breakfast before I stunk up my part of a three-man scramble. That was in, I believe, April 2007).
This eighth-grader, a first generation American of South Korean descent named Mackenzie Lee, has a perfect swing. She weighed eighty-five pounds and averaged about 220 yards with her driver. She won five-and-four, which about like winning a football game 42-7.

River Trail
I walked 4.1 miles with Ron and Elaine and Susy and her wife Kat on the River Trail this morning from the Burns Park Golf Course. I'm not sure how long we were out, but I'm thinking about an hour and ten minutes. Later we ate at the Levy Waffle House, where I made a huge mistake. I had, ala carte, a cheese omelette, an order of bacon, and a fucking Diet Coke. That combo cost $10.70. I'm still confused.

War Memorial Park Golf Course
John Czarnecki, newcomer Ed Pennington, 73 of Sherwood, and I played War Memorial Golf Course this morning. I scored 92, John 95, and Ed 81. I had some blow-up holes, but this was otherwise the best I've played in about six weeks. I used 30 putts, a byproduct of practice and improved chipping. I had 4 pars, 7 bogies, 2 doubles, 3 triples, 1 quadruple, and 1 pentagonal (I was seven-over par for my best eleven holes and twenty-two over for my worst seven).
Ed seemed like a very nice fellow. We had a three-way phone-number exchange and tentatively agreed to play Friday.

Hindman Park Golf Course
Man, it was too fucking hot to walk Hindman Park Golf Course today. I was miserable after about five holes. I scored 106, with nines of 54 and 52. The heat index was 110 degrees when we got through. Clubs were slipping in my hands like two motherfuckers. John Czarnecki scored 119. I lost track of putts, but I think I used about eighty. I would go take a nap, but I'm too fucking tired to walk that far.
Monday, July 10, 2017
War Memorial Golf Course
John Czarnecki and I played War Memorial Golf Course this morning and afternoon. I scored 94, with nines of 47 and 47, and used 38 putts. John scored 104. The greens at War Memorial are beautiful and consistent but faster than any I remember.

Levy Trail North
I slept well last night for the first time since I hurt my neck, slightly more than eleven days ago, or some time before about 3:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 27. The neck, knock on wood (IF you know what I mean) is back in order. There was more than that, though, to why I walked Levy Trail North this morning in 30:21, but it's a long list, so fuck it.

Rebsamen Park short nine
I played one lap of the short-nine course at Rebsamen Park this afternoon but didn't keep score. I played multiple balls in a hot, muggy practice outing. I particularly worked on pitch shots and hit them well for the first time in a while. The course is in awful shape. I lost several balls right in the middle of fairways.

Hindman Park Golf Course
I played Hindman Park Golf Course as poorly this morning as I played it well two days ago. John Czarnecki and I quit after nine holes. I scored 59 and John 62. We then ate at a Salvadorian restaurant way out in southwest Little Rock. It was hard for me to interpret the menu. As a consequence, I was served spicy coleslaw and a fried chicken drumstick stuffed together in a hoagie roll. That was it. That's all I got. I'm still not sure how I was supposed to eat it but treated it as if it were a coleslaw sandwich with a fried drumstick on the side. It was tasty but a ripoff, even at a mere $6.50.

Hash
I walked and jogged for 1:42:40 with the Little Rock Hash House Harriers late this afternoon. We started and finished near Sylvan Hills High in Sherwood.
We had another goddamned theme run today. This one had something to do with Hawaiian luaus. Women have fucking taken over our Hash. It seems as if at least once a month they want us to show up wearing costumes. We recently had an Alice in Wonderland theme. No shit, they wanted us to wear fucking Alice in Wonderland outfits. Sarasota, Florida
SARASOTA, Fla.—I walked for 1:10:23 out and back on Magellan Drive and 67 Drive from the Waugh's house. One of the funnier things I have recently seen happened this morning at about 7:45. Marion and I were in the living room/den drinking coffee when his and Kim's 23-year-old son gets out of bed, walks through to the kitchen, comes back and sits down holding a bottle of Bud Light he had just opened.

SARASOTA, Fl.—I walked out and back from Steve Edward's family home on Magellan Drive this morning for 57:54. Ed is my former sports-talk co-host from the late 1980s. Some of my readers might remember the cool black Cincinnati Reds T-shirt he sent me back in the mid-2000s. His real name is Marion Waugh. He lives here with his wife Kim and sons Grady and Gibby. He and I will spend the next two evenings watching the Reds play the Tampa Bay Rays. We might also golf and fish. I will be home by mid-morning Wednesday.

I walked Levy Trail South through mist this morning in 33:36.
John Czarnecki beat me at golf today for the first time. It's hard to explain, but I was truly happy for him. I played the first four holes at War Memorial Park in 15-over par. John parred No. 5 and I bogeyed. I mentioned to him afterward that he was 11 strokes ahead of me but that, by god, I was coming after him. He finished with a 93 and I with a 95. We really had fun.

John Czarnecki and I played War Memorial Golf Course this morning and afternoon. I scored 90, with nines of 40 and 50, and used 33 putts. John scored 96. I let hypoglycemia sneak up on me on the back nine. My streak of no three putts ended on No. 10 at thirty-seven holes. I three-putted three times on the back, twice after hitting greens in regulation.

I let hypoglycemia sneak up on me on the back nine. My streak of no three putts ended on No. 10 at thirty-seven holes. I three-putted three times on the back, twice after hitting greens in regulation.

Levy Trail South/Hash
I walked Levy Trail South through a drizzle this morning in 31:47.
Basil Julian and I got separated from the other twenty Hashers about half an hour into the Hash run set from Benny Craig Park way the fuck out in the middle of southwest Little Rock. We got in after 1:31:38, way after everyone else.

Levy Trail/Maple Street Loop
I walked approximately 4.1 miles on the Levy Trail at lunchtime today in 1:09:27.
This evening I walked the Maple Street Loop in 34:41. A woman on West Street named Helen Langley told me the red cat I'm so fond of is named Sammy. She said she adopted him a couple of years ago from a neighbor who had a stroke and moved. She has lived in her house for eight years and said Sammy was well established in the neighborhood when she moved there. She said all of her neighbors speak highly of him.

Burns Park Loop/War Memorial Golf Course
I walked the Burns Park Loop this morning in 1:42:17 to finish nearly five minutes ahead of the rest of the Geezers.
John Czarnecki and I played War Memorial Golf Course this afternoon and evening in a race against night. We won by a butt hair. I scored an 83, with nines of 42 and 41. I used 33 putts. I am on a streak of 28 holes without a three-putt. John scored a 102 to crush his goal of breaking 149.
This round was close to really good; I had 2 pars, 14 bogies, 1 triple, and 1 quadruple.

Pam's Path/Levy Loop
Pete has decided not to change to the name of the 38th Street Loop but rather to name a new course in honor of the late great Pam.
I walked the four-mile Pam's Path today in 1:04:06. It's almost all on the Levy Trail, except for the circa three-tenths of a mile back and forth to the trail from my house. It goes from my driveway to the north end of the asphalt, then to 33rd Street, and finally to the Levy police precinct and back to the house.
This evening I walked the Levy Loop in 33:10.

Hindman Park Golf Course
John Czarnecki and I played Hindman Park Golf Course this morning and afternoon. I scored a 101, with nines of 48 and 53. I used 32 putts. It was probably my best round since I started playing again last October. I scored eights on Nos. 9 and 18. The last particularly stung, since a six would've put me under 100. Poor John. He shot 149, with nines of 75 and 74.

Levy Trail 5K/Hash
Scooting is clearly a relative term. It felt as if that was what I was doing all along the Levy Trail 5K this morning, and it still took me fucking 46:05 to complete. I alternated three-minute walks with one-minute jogs and went through splits of 15:12, 14:33, and 14:50. My three-mile time was 44:35.
This afternoon I walked and jogged with the Little Rock Hash for 1:27:45 from someone's house in Stift Station. I'll guess I went about four and a half miles. Man, I'm tired.

Cooks Landing/Levy Trail
I joined the Geezers this morning for a 7.07-mile walk from Cooks Landing through the Burns Park soccer fields. We were out for 2:11:04.
It's 88°F at 4:02 p.m. in Levy. The goddamn RealFeel® is 97. This is our first distinctly summer-feeling day. Consequently, I pretty much stuck to the shady portion of the Levy Trail between 42nd and 38th streets, just going back and forth where it was coolest. I was out for 39:41 and covered a little over two miles. My goal was to not sweat so much that I would need a shower before I leave to report on a Travelers-Frisco RoughRiders baseball game.

Burns Park Loop/Levy
There was a nice Geezer group this morning, with Rosemary, Ann Kell, Y.T., Sandy Venable, Bill Brass and his brother-in-law Mike, and me. We walked the Burns Park Loop. Rosemary, Ann, and I completed it in 1:46:31. My legs felt great. I was tempted to run a few times.
This evening I walked the first mile and quarter or so of Levy Trail South, but when I reached the street near Spectators, I returned home along a random route. At one point, I jogged for about a hundred yards. It felt nice. I was out for 38:01.

Maple Street Loop/Levy Trail
I walked the Maple Street Loop this morning in 36:43.
I stopped for a moment on West Street to pet the fun and friendly red cat I had not seen in a long time. A moment of research indicated that he and I last met on Feb. 15, 2014. On that day, I noted that I had not seen him "in a couple of years." I also mentioned that he wore tags for the first time in my presence and that he looked healthy. Both of those factors were true today, too. What a cool cat. He loves attention and is perfectly equipped to attract it. I wish he were out and visible from the street more often.
Man, I was lucky to get home without embarrassing myself this evening. I walked in, ate a Halloween-size PayDay bar, and measured my blood glucose at 50 mg/dl. I was surprised it was that high.
I started on the Levy Trail and finished headed south on Camp Robinson and Orange Street and was out for 1:24:02. Nothing on Orange looked familiar until I reached the Chiropractic Clinic.

Levy Trail/Rebsamen Park West Nine
Ron and Elaine Gimblet and Rosemary joined me for a Levy Trail walk this morning. I was out for 1:42:55.
I played the Rebsamen Park West Nine with Gil this afternoon in 41, which is eight-over par. We then played Nos. 1 and 9 again. I scored a one-over nine. I hit much better iron shots today.

Lakewood Lake No. 2/War Memorial Golf Course
I occasionally joke that I have used a walk as a warm-up for a drive somewhere or a round of golf, but this time that's close to how it worked out. Because of Ron's tweaked back, he and Elaine and I walked two laps around Lakewood Lake No. 2 this morning in 46:03, or 2.11 miles at over 23 minutes a mile. Roger "Tripod" Chinn and I are scheduled to tee off at War Memorial in about an hour. For the time being, I feel great. I have worked quite a bit on my swing after the disaster from two weeks ago at Rebsamen and am excited to see the result.
I played fine, but I still can't hit an iron worth a fuck or a wood very far. Roger, on the other hand, hits drives about, no kidding, 280 yards. I scored an 86 with nines of 45 and 41. Roger scored 88, but only because he hasn't played much lately. I used 33 putts.
