In relative terms, we smoked the Burns Park Loop this morning. Chrissy Ferguson and Sandy Venable led the way as the Geezers completed the course in 1:39:11. Chrissy said, "I wasn't on his side the other day, but I sure am now."
"Sure, you gotta be," I said.
"I hope he's the greatest president we've ever had," Ron said.
"You know, I guess I do too," Elaine said.
"Wow, Elaine, I never thought I'd hear you say that about any Republican, let alone Don fucking Trump," I said.
"I never thought I would either, but what else can you do?"
We talked at length about the Ouachita Trail 50, specifically the 50K. I said there was no way I could finish it at my current level of fitness. Chrissy baited me with a free entry. We'll see.
OVERHEARD
"I'm just tired. I'm tired to know that hate is now state sanctioned."
—soundbite from a redheaded female high school student from California on PBS's News Hour. This girl, who repeated a mantra I have heard one hundred and six times since 1 a.m., Wednesday, looked as if she probably looks exactly like her mom or dad, whichever one is the public library director in goddamn Bakersfield
