UCA campus

CONWAY—I walked for 35:38 early this afternoon before Central Arkansas University's 31-24 victory over Illinois State in the first round of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Series playoffs.

Levy Trail South

I walked Levy Trail South this morning in 32:21.

OVERHEARD
"Never give up. Don't you ever give up. It's not allowed."
—scrawny middle-aged man dressed in baggy slacks and sport jacket to Pete as their paths crossed on 42nd Street. The man then began to babble incoherently

War Memorial Golf Course/DFL

I scored a 99 at War Memorial Park Golf Course this afternoon. John scored 108.
The DFL Green Bay Packers defeated K-Squad Gen 2, 100.47-83.05 to improve to 5-6. This week we play Krup's Kids.

I'M CALLING BULLSHIT...
...on the two men on National Public Radio this afternoon who said Thanksgiving food connects us to our past. What does that mean? I mean, connecting to our past? Who came up with that? Is that some sort of problem area with us, not connecting to our past, that cranberry sauce helps fucking solve? Fuck

OVERHEARD
"I see this being a shootout because both of our defenses are ass."

Levy Trail Loop

I alternated four-minute walks with one-minute jogs to complete the Levy Trail Loop this morning in 29:47.

OVERHEARD
"It turned cold, didn't it."
—old cigarette-smoking woman in a self-propelled wheelchair whom I've seen on the Levy Trail about once a month for the last couple of years. At 8:39 a.m., it's 40°F in Levy. I'd say it was probably a bit under 40 when our paths met

Hashfest

HOT SPRINGS—I was out for a total 42:58 with the Hash at Hashfest today, beginning at about noon. The trip was three hours of enormous fun, one of my favorite Hash experiences.

OVERHEARD
"I was going to move to Canada, but when I really started looking at it, I realized there was no way I could live in a country that allows, indeed embraces, crappy twelve-man semi-professional football."
—Pete in a conversation with B.J.

"You know, I can't figure out why Mike Pence was so surprised that he got lectured by the cast of Hamilton. I mean, lord knows, if you're trying to hide that you're a homophobic racist, the last place on earth you should go is to a fucking theater production."
—Pete in a conversation with Turd, though he truly does understand why the cast of a Broadway play might be concerned about Pence's record concerning gay rights. Truly, Pence should not have been surprised. On the other hand, to lecture a man with Pence's track record when he appears at a Broadway play is the same as publicly lecturing a liberal gay-rights advocate who shows up at the Forge or the Levy First Baptist Church. It's no way to win anyone over and will more likely steel their resolve against your causes

Maumelle/Levy Trail South

I walked on the Maumelle trails from Lake Willistein with the Geezers on Wednesday morning for 1:14:15.
Late this afternoon I walked Levy Trail South in 34:05.

Levy Trail

I walked about 4.75 miles with the Geezers on the Levy Trail this morning. I walked approximately three-quarters of a mile to meet them behind Spectators, so I covered a total of about 5.5 miles in 1:41:01. It seems odd, but I'm beginning to feel a little bit fit.

Lakewood Lake No. 3

We walked around and in the general vicinity of Lake Lake No. 3 this morning for 1:03:08.
The DFL Green Bay Packers defeated the Kruptilains, 110.51-65.43, to improve to 4-6.

Hash

I was out for 1:09:42 on a Hash run set by someone I don't know this afternoon. Someone measured it at 4.07 miles.
A 31-year-old woman named Kate Cunningham ran with us for the first time. She's from Conway. Her grandfather was Glenn Cunningham, kind of hero of mine as a child. I ran track against her uncle John Cunningham when I was in high school. Google Glenn Cunningham. He at one time held the world record for the mile. He finished fourth in the 1500-meter run at the 1932 Los Angeles Summer Olympics and won the 1500 silver medal at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

Ridge Road Loop/DFL

I walked the Ridge Road Loop in 1:01:34, with splits of 15:31, 16:03, 15:41, and 14:19. It got down to something like 42° last night. I turned on my heater yesterday, 22 days after I last turned off my air conditioner. Since I began recording these insane details two years ago, that's my shortest time between air and heat. In 2014, I went 24 days and last year 33 (when I got a bit ridiculous about it trying to outlast Z-Man. I remember at least one morning when I wore a jacket and a stocking cap in my house).
I forgot to enter this last week. Walt's DFL Fat Chicks defeated the Green Bay Packers, 112.85-107.75. We're 3-6 and in last place. I'm not sure about this, but I believe we still have a very outside shot at the playoffs if we win each of our final four games. After we had two Thursday Night Football duds go for us, we currently lead the Kruptilians (owned by Jeff Krupsaw's son Daniel), 14.48-0.00. Yahoo currently projects we'll win, 97.26-90.04, down from its original prediction of 104.09-90.04.
I'm trying to get eatdatpussy445 to become a DFL Packers fan. I would love to hear him make a video like this about us (this one only lasts 2 minutes and 34 seconds:

Burns Park Loop

In relative terms, we smoked the Burns Park Loop this morning. Chrissy Ferguson and Sandy Venable led the way as the Geezers completed the course in 1:39:11. Chrissy said, "I wasn't on his side the other day, but I sure am now."
"Sure, you gotta be," I said.
"I hope he's the greatest president we've ever had," Ron said.
"You know, I guess I do too," Elaine said.
"Wow, Elaine, I never thought I'd hear you say that about any Republican, let alone Don fucking Trump," I said.
"I never thought I would either, but what else can you do?"
We talked at length about the Ouachita Trail 50, specifically the 50K. I said there was no way I could finish it at my current level of fitness. Chrissy baited me with a free entry. We'll see.

OVERHEARD

"I'm just tired. I'm tired to know that hate is now state sanctioned."
—soundbite from a redheaded female high school student from California on PBS's News Hour. This girl, who repeated a mantra I have heard one hundred and six times since 1 a.m., Wednesday, looked as if she probably looks exactly like her mom or dad, whichever one is the public library director in goddamn Bakersfield

Fort Roots Loop

We walked the Fort Roots Loop this morning in 2:0:37 but took a long cut to avoid thick weeds and shit to make it a little bit over seven miles. Three of us jogged for a total of twelve minutes.

OVERHEARD
"On the bright side, at least we can all stay real stoned for the next four years."
—Ron Gimblet. Arkansans voted in a very liberal medical marijuana law yesterday

Lakewood Lake No. 2 Loop

Ron, Elaine, Bill, Rosemary, Jack, and I walked the 4.06-mile Lakewood Lake No. 2 Loop this morning in 1:10:39.

OVERHEARD
"If Trump wins, I'm going to buy a plane ticket to Canada."
—Elaine Gimblet. Afterward, she was asked if she had a passport. She said she didn't. "What makes you think Trump will let anyone get one," Pete said.

"Yeah, right. Like, Queen Elizabeth comes for a visit and he goes, 'See. And I'll bet you guys all thought I was gonna grab her pussy, didn't you.' "
— Pete, after Bill Brass said his only true concern if Trump were to win is how much embarrassment he might bring us

Levy Trail North/DFL

Somewhere near the end of a hypoglycemic dream early yesterday morning, I hurt my right foot. I thought for a while that it might be broken. It's not, just a little bit bruised, and hardly hurt at all as I walked Levy Trail North late this morning in 33:10.
The DFL Green Bay Packers are playing Walt's Fat Chicks this weekend. We took a 13.00-0.00 lead with our placekicker Thursday night. The Packers are currently favored, 110.81-103.61. Walt's and my quarterbacks will play in the same nationally-televised game beginning at roughly 3:25 p.m. Walt has the Indianapolis Colts' Andrew Luck. We have the NFL Packers' Aaron Rodgers. All six of my offensive players will play on national television today — two at noon, two at 3:25, and two at 7:30. This is a DFL career first for us, a fantasy football dream-come-true. It's too bad it's such a lovely day here in Levy.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

This was inspired by a hypoglycemic dream I had early Saturday morning about cops in Houston, Texas, pulling people over for rolling through stops signs: Why do we have stop signs rather than yield signs at any but four- or three-way stops?

EATDATPUSSY445 UTUBE VIDEO OF THE WEEK

I love this guy. Watch at least the first three minutes. If you can't manage that, then fast forward to the 1:35 mark and listen to what EDP445 has to say about Odell Beckham's hairdo. It makes for a pretty funny fifty seconds.

War Memorial Golf Course

It's clear now that I should not golf more often than once every two years. Playing with John, Timmy, and a friend of Frostbite's named Gil, I scored a 103 at War Memorial Golf Course, with nines of 51 and 52. I used 39 putts and had 1 par, 4 bogies, 6 doubles, 4 triples, and 3 quadruples. Nevertheless, we had a lot of fun. Tim and John are wonderful golf partners.

Burns Park Loop

We walked the Burns Park Loop this morning in 1:43:30.

OVERHEARD
"I really wanted to fight for a denim line that empowered women."
—no shit, a woman on a late-night talk show said that. That's all I heard. I clicked on it, and I felt it was borderline essential that I not listen to another motherfucking word. Lord knows that that's what we need—people fighting for denim lines that empower

Two Rivers Park

We Geezers walked all the fuck over Two Rivers Park this morning for 2:06:18. Elaine Gimblet's watch said we went 7.49 miles. I felt oddly fit.

OVERHEARD
"Is Tiger Woods still the Cleveland Indians' quarterback?"
— Ron Gimblet, in a display at lunch today of his World Series disinterest, to which I responded: "Wow, Ron, that's pretty impressive. I didn't think you kept up with baseball."

Levy Trail Loop/DFL

I walked the Levy Trail Loop this morning in 33:40.
The DFL Green Bay Packers defeated the Dogtown Dolphins, 112.24-56.44, to improve to 3-5. What's crazy is, our league is so mediocre this season that we are only one game out of sixth place and a playoff spot. Our chance is fairly slight, but we do have one.
