Levy Trail South

I walked Levy Trail South this morning in 35:01, which was the idea—to go as easy as possible. My pulse rate was at 108 (+/- 4). At that pace, it should be no higher than mid-90s. Thirty-five minutes and one second for two miles is a 9:02:46 50K pace. If I break nine hours at the Midnight 50K, it will be the greatest accomplishment in the history of human endeavor. That's my goal.

Burns Park Loop/Hash

I walked and jogged the Burns Park Loop this morning in 1:34:36. It was 66° when I started and 69° when I finished according to my Chevrolet thermometer. That to me made it a bit odd that I saw one person on the green loop. One fucker with a walking stick.
This afternoon I was out for 32:10, primarily with Basil Julian, in a west Little Rock Hash run cut short, for us, by lightening.

Orange Street Loop

I jogged and walked the Orange Street Loop this morning in 40:26, with splits of 13:30, 13:16, and 13:39. About midway through, I remembered that Jo's ninth birthday was two days ago. Those fuckers at Eubanks Veterinary Clinic didn't send a card this year.

Orignal Levy Trail Loop/Poplar Street Loop

I walked the original Levy Trail Loop (founded in circa 1995) this morning in 33:08.
This evening I walked and jogged one lap of the Poplar Street Loop to complete two miles in 31:40. I finished the one-mile hillier-than-two-mothefuckers loop in 15:43.
By the way, I am now through Day 2 of a 9-week, 2-day push to break nine hours in the Full Moon 50K. Also, I will easily make it through today without air conditioning. It was cool enough in my house this morning that I drank hot coffee and put on sweat clothes for an hour or so. At ll:48 a.m., it's 76° and raining. They say the high will be 77. I'm pretty sure I will make it until June and maybe a few days further.
It is 72 at 7:36 p.m.

Levy Trail North/Poplar Street Loop

I walked Levy Trail North late this morning in 31:46.
My heat and air have been off since March 27. The warmest my house has been is 82*F, but it had never been warmer in the morning than when I got up today, when it was 75. My primary goal is to make it through tomorrow, May 27. My secondary is to make until June 1. We'll see.
Starting at 7:30 tonight, I walked one lap of the Poplar Street Loop for a total of two miles in 37:23. I completed the one-mile loop in 18:57.

Hash

I walked for 48:03 from a house on Taylor Street in Little Rock with the Hash this afternoon. Nearly, no kidding, fifty people were there. We started and ended at a lovely little house with a perfectly shaded backyard located no more than a half mile from Z-Man's house.

Burns Park Loop

I walked the Burns Park Loop this morning in 1:40:01. By the way, someone has added an estimated quarter of mile to the loop. They put a bridge in over a particularly muddy area and carved the trail a little deeper into the woods on the basketball-court side of the new bridge.

Levy Trail

We Geezers walked on and around the Levy Trail this morning for a total of 1:40:43. Twelve people showed for what Elaine Gimblet called The Pete Perkins Memorial Walk. Apparently I have returned from the dead.

MASTER PETE'S KENTUCKY DERBY PICK
We're keeping it simple here at Master Pete's. Bet one thing and one thing only. It won't get you rich but will likely pay for a year's worth of pet food.
Go with a $10 exacta box with Nyquist (No. 13) and Whitmore (No. 10). It will cost $20. A $10 13-10 exacta should pay somewhere around $500, and a 10-13, about $1,000, or maybe a bit more.

PARAGRAPH OF THE DAY
Kentucky Derbies always draw an enthusiastic crowd to Oaklawn’s simulcasts, as did this one, but no significant central theme was apparent. Last year the Arkansas Derby winner American Pharoah was recognized as a thoroughbred superstar before the Triple Crown series began, and by year’s end had assumed the stature of an all-time great. None of this season’s Kentucky Derby entrants approached such grandeur.
