I walked and jogged 4.55 miles with the Geezers on the River Trail this morning in 1:17:57. We went out and back toward downtown from the Burns Park Golf Course parking lot. Bill Brass and I jogged a mile en route in 11:37.
This evening I walked the Levy Trail Loop in 33:49, and saw Mary Lyons for the first time since Christmas. She said she had recently run a 1:47 half-marathon, and learned in our conversation that marathons are not exactly 26.2 miles, but rather 26 miles, 385 yards (the distance between Windsor Palace and the entrance to White City Stadium, plus a lap around the track of 586 yards, two feet, to the front of the Royal Box. That's exactly 33 yards longer than 26.2 miles.
OVERHEARD
"Whatever happened to that Chinese-looking girl?"
—Jeff Luckas (John's brother), to conclude a conversation that began with Jeff telling me someone asked him if Pete were gay. "I told 'em, 'They ain't not fucking way that Pete's gay,' " he said
