Big Rock Mystery Run
Ron Gimblet and I walked the Big Rock Mystery Run this morning in 3:02:42. They said it was eight miles. We started with about a hundred other people in a driving rain storm from the skateboard park on the Arkansas River side of Fort Roots. We climbed four times from roughly the river to the top and back, slipping and sliding and being scared to fucking death (speaking for myself). We beat one guy. I think he got lost. The good looking chicks were gone by the time we finished, but several hot dogs—still hot, with fresh buns and plenty of mustard—waited for us. You can imagine how good they were.

Levy Trail
I walked two miles on the Levy Trail this afternoon in 29:39.
Pam got off to a nice start last weekend in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Pool at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette; she was tied for fourth in a field of 53. Pete Perkins was tied for 25th. However, Pam has lost two Final Four teams, including her national champion Indiana last fucking night. I don't think there's any way she can finish in the top three. Pete probably can, if Michigan State wins the championship.
OVERHEARD
"I'd like to meet the bastard who decided to insist fidelity become one of our rules. To think that someone chose to enforce fidelity on human flesh; it's unspeakable."

Burns Park Loop
We walked the Burns Park Loop this morning in 1:38:54, which is a pretty good time for the Geezers. The usual crew appeared, minus Bill Brass, plus Jack Evans and Corky Zaloudek.

Fort Roots Loop/Levy Trail
We did the Fort Roots Loop from Burns Park Golf Course this morning in 1:29:03. According to Bill Brass' watch, we covered 5.8 miles. Brass and Elaine and I jogged two miles en route in 22:45, with splits of 11:16 and 11:29. This afternoon I walked three miles on the Levy Trail in 47:23. It ain't cold out, for the first time since Saturday, March 16. At 4:59 p.m., it's 60°F in Levy.

Orange Street Loop
I walked the Orange Street Loop tonight in 45:38, shortly after I ate at The Faded Rose with Jenny Devine-Rossano, her husband Alex, eleven-year-old daughter Kelly, and nine-year-old son James. It was the first time I had seen them since the day before Mother's Day in 2005. They were lovely. Jenny remains gorgeous. Kelly is petepretty all the way. At first I thought she was James. She wants to make movies, or write screenplays. It was my first meal at The Faded Rose since July of 2007, a couple of days after Jo, Natalie, and George moved to Levy.

Levy Trail/Levy Trail
I walked three miles on the Levy Trail this morning in 45:29, and two miles late this afternoon in 32:05.

Hash
I can't believe I didn't win the $320 million. They gave it to some fucker in New Jersey. Instead, I ran Hash, way out west, from the parking lot of Chenal Elementary School. I was out for about forty-five minutes, so probably covered three miles.
Saturday, March 23, 2013
Maple Street Loop
I jogged the Maple Street Loop this morning in 21:32, with splits of 10:51 and 10:41.

This is my second Powerball ticket, and my first since c. 1995. I think I'm going to win something like $200 million

Levy Loop-Levy Trail
I walked the first half mile of the Levy Loop through a stream of lunchtime traffic and decided to finish up on the Levy Trail, which I shared for a little over twenty minutes with four other walkers. I covered two miles in 30:15.
THE INTERNET WILL NEVER MAKE IT...
...because Redbook magazine listed the following on its website as advice for doctoring frozen pizzas: “I’d drizzle a little olive oil on it, then, once it’s blistered in the oven, I’d drape it with thin slices of prosciutto crudo and scatter arugula and toasted pine nuts on top.” —Nigella Lawson. ...I mean, fuck, who doesn't blister their Tortino's®, and then put arugula on it?

Levy Trail
Bill Brass, Ron and Elaine, Rosemary, Bob McKinney, Sandy Venable and her little granddaughter Riley, and I walked for 1:29:15 on the Levy Trail this morning. We poked, so probably only covered about four miles. Now I will spend the day cooking spare ribs, and watching my and Pam's NCAA tournament brackets.

Levy Trail intervals/Levy Trail
I ran 4X880 yards on the Levy Trail this morning, with three-minute intervals, in 4:34.9, 4:18.7, 4:29.8, and 4:16.2. I'll bet you can guess which were slightly uphill and which were slightly the opposite. I warmed up and down with walks and jogs of approximately two thirds of a mile. Early this evening I walked two miles on the Levy Trail in 30:30.

Burns Park Loop/Levy Trail
We walked the first two thirds of the Burns Park Loop this morning, after which Bill Brass said he wanted to shortcut home along the road that goes by the golf course. We all fell in line, and went almost exactly four miles in 1:25:33. Corky was with us, so we went particularly slow. This afternoon I walked two miles on the Levy Trail in 31:06.
Monday, March 18, 2013
33rd Street Loop
I jogged the 33rd Street Loop this morning in 55:24, with splits of 10:56, 10:43, 11:17, 11:40, and 10:48.

38th Street Loop
My legs felt dead as I walked and jogged the 38th Street Loop this morning in 28:39, which didn't surprise me. Two days ago I walked and ran twelve miles and played nine holes of golf.
Friday, March 15, 2013
Hardcastle Loop/River Trail
My legs felt lively as I walked the Hardcastle Loop this morning in 46:21, which surprised me. Yesterday I walked and ran twelve miles, and played nine holes of golf. This evening I walked two miles on the Levy Trail in 32:21.
OVERHEARD

Levy Trail intervals/Two Rivers Park/First Tee/Levy Loop Classic
I hope to make Thursday morning intervals on the Levy Trail a staple. I Google Earthed an 880-yard (half mile) stretch from roughly the Taco Bell to one light pole south of 36th Street. I jogged and walked to the light pole for a warmup, and did 4X880 yards, with three-minute walk intervals, in 4:55.7, 4:35.1, 4:42.5, and 4:25.0. Nos. 1 and 3 were slightly uphill. I walked the half mile and two blocks home for a warmdown. Starting an hour later, I walked for 1:35:08 through Two Rivers Park with Anne, Corky, Sandy, and Yvette. I missed the men, because the women walked too fucking fast. This afternoon I played nine holes from the middles at First Tee in 51, with 1 par, 2 bogies, 5 doubles, and 1 triple. I used 15 putts. Finally, late this afternoon, I walked Levy Loop Classic in 33:14.

Fort Roots Loop/First Tee/38th Street Loop
We walked the Fort Roots Loop (which begins and ends at the eastern edge of the Burns Park Golf Course parking lot) this morning in 1:43:01. It's 5.09 miles long, according to Bill Brass' watch. I played nine holes from the middles at First Tee this afternoon in 48, with 2 pars, 3 bogies, 3 doubles, and 1 triple. I used 19 putts, but hit several solid shots, a rarity the last few years. This evening I walked the 38th Street Loop in 32:47.
Tuesday, March 12, 2013
Cook's Landing/Maple Street Loop
I walked about six miles this morning in 1:52:45 at Cook's Landing. I started with the entire gang, plus Sam Hardcastle and Anne Moore, but Anne and I were the only ones who went the entire route. This evening I jogged the Maple Street Loop in 22:59, with splits of 11:21 and 11:38.
Monday, March 11, 2013
Ridge Road Loop/Levy Trail
I walked and jogged the Ridge Road Loop this morning in 57:07. It was 35°F and windy, but tonight was much more comfortable as I walked the Levy Trail in 29:56.
Sunday, March 10, 2013
Maple Street Loop/Hash
I walked the Maple Street Loop this morning through a driving, cold rain in 30:41. Everything I wore is draped over the rim of my bathtub. It dried up in time for Hash. I was out for 1:10:17 on Cleavage of No Return's virgin lay, mostly with Ron Gimblet.

Maple Street Loop/Levy Loop
I walked and jogged the Maple Street Loop this morning in 27:48. This evening I walked the Levy Loop in 32:29. I haven't felt well today, but feel better after my walk. Levy smells like spring, like everything this latitude lets bloom.

I jogged the 35th Street Loop this morning in 43:06, with splits of 11:07, 10:52, 10:42, and 10:25. This might've been my longest nonstop run since the fall of 2011. This afternoon, after a five-hour shift at the Little Rock Marathon Hash Aid Station, I walked Easy Bake Lovin's (Anna's) run on the I-30 side of downtown. I went a little over two miles.

33rd Street Loop/Levy Trail
This may sound crazy, but it's snowing a little in Levy. It's distinctly flurrying. Obviously it was cold as I jogged and walked the 33rd Street Loop this morning in 56:59, with splits of 11:18, 11:17, 11:27, 11:41, and 11:16, and it remains cold. I believe our high today was 39°F, which is what it is at 5:51 p.m. I walked two miles on the Levy Trail late this afternoon in 30:08.
