Pinnacle Mountain/First Tee
I scouted my trail for Saturday's Great Cross Country Race at Pinnacle Mountain this morning. I was out for 1:14:40, and covered at least four miles. Then I drove to First Tee, which I played with a retired man named Joe Parker in 96. I had nines of 48 and 48, with 4 pars, 8 bogies, 3 doubles, 2 triples, and 1 quadruple. I didn't count putts, because I was too busy talking to Joe about Nashville. His dad grew up in the old Parker house, two blocks from the Crutchfield house, where my mother was raised. I spent several memorable evenings twenty-five years ago in the Parker house, with Joe's older first cousin Parker Westbrook and my mom. Joe remembered Joda's, my favorite restaurant as a child, and York Gary Chevrolet. Heck, he knows Nashville almost as well as I do. He knows about the cheeseburgers at Nashville Country Club.
