Levy walk

Man, it feels like bad weather. It's windy and gloomy, 78 degrees with 81-percent humidity, and the weathermen and weather.com won't shut up; there's lots of red on the map. After spending most of the day on Professor Pete's Silver Bullet Lock of a Lifetime Kentucky Derby Superfecta Spectacular, I walked through Levy for 38:47.

Central Avenue/Hash

HOT SPRINGS — I walked and jogged for 36 minutes around Oaklawn Park, primarily on Central Avenue, to cover a little less than three miles this afternoon. I also lost $40 betting on turtles and slugs disguised as thoroughbreds.

I walked and jogged about two miles from the White Water Tavern tonight with the Hash.

Ghetto Cat Loop/Orange Street intervals

I jogged and walked the Ghetto Cat Loop this morning in 23:49.

Tonight, starting at about 8 o'clock, I ran 4X400 meters with a three-minute walk-jog interval in 1:52.4, 1:48.2, 1:53.9, and 1:49.9. Nos. 1 and 3 were run north on Orange, and the others south. There was a 10-15 mph north wind. These weren't too stressful.

Ghetto Cat Loop/Hash

At 9:28 a.m. Central, it's 60 degrees and sunnier than two motherfuckers. Good yard-cutting weather. I walked and jogged the Ghetto Cat Loop in 25:38.

This afternoon I jogged a little but mostly walked for 45 minutes with BJ, Reverend Bob, and a Taiwanese women named Michelle from a warehouse in Maumelle on Zach and Lacey's Hash run.

Levy Loop/Park Hill Loop

Last night at about 8 o'clock Central, after I netted $23.40 on a trip to Oaklawn Park with Tim Cooper, I jogged and walked the Levy Loop in 24:20.

I jogged the Park Hill Loop this evening in 52:34, with splits of 11:02, 11:42, 10:12, 10:20, and 9:18.

Levy Loop/Sweetheart Loop

I walked the Levy Loop this afternoon, with about five minutes of knee-testing jogs, in 27:17. My knee feels much better, a relief, since this morning when I stumbled out of bed as if I had one of those weird neurological diseases.

Tonight, starting at about 9:15 Central, I jogged the Sweetheart Loop in 31:10, with splits of 11:34, 10:13, and 9:23.

Sweetheart Loop/First Tee/Levy Loop

My left knee hurts today. I limp for the first handful of steps, then it feels better, but not great. I can't run. This morning I walked the Levy Loop in 32:19.

Yesterday morning I walked and jogged the Sweetheart Loop in 34:50, with splits of 12:40, 11:22, and 10:48. Then Randall Hunhoff and I played First Tee in the afternoon. I scored 51, with 4 bogies, 4 doubles, and 1 triple. Randall scored a 40.

Orange Street Loop

Emily ran the Boston Marathon 5K in 23:33 to establish my 5K goal for 2010. I don't want to hear, "Fuck, she had another 37.5 kilometers to run." What do I care? That's not my fault. I'm shooting for 23:32. To start, I walked and jogged the Orange Street Loop in 33:15, with splits of 11:10, 11:01, and 11:04. That was after Petey King taught me to play golf for, I think, the seventh time since 1995, and I spent 90 minutes hitting a bucket of balls and a couple of dozen chips at Burns Park.

35th Street Loop

It has been unseasonably warm in Levy the last few days, with highs in the mid-80s. Today, at 2:25 p.m. Central, it is 80 with a light breeze, wonderful. I jogged and walked the 35th Street Loop, an hour after discovering the great tax reward handed the unemployed, in 44:54, with splits of 11:52, 11:02, 11:12, and 10:48.

Hash

We Hashers ran from Shadow Lakes, a west Little Rock apartment complex; I was out for about 45 mintues and probably covered a little over three miles.

Saturday, April 10, 2010

Chandler Street Loop

At 11:29 a.m. Central, it is strikingly blue and 69 degrees with a breeze softer than Pam's belly, plus the air's drier than Melba toast; it's perfect for watching CBS the whole goddamn day. But first I walked and jogged the Chandler Street Loop 37:00, with splits of 12:33, 12:40, and 11:47.

North Little Rock High

My legs felt tired this morning. I stopped after 2X1000 meters at the North Little Rock High track run in 5:17 and 5:04 with a four-minute, 400 walk/jog interval, before they got hard. My new plan includes not doing shit until tomorrow night.

Thursday, April 1, 2010

First Tee/Maple Street Loop

I drove the the North Little Rock High track to do 1000s this morning, but after I jogged a quarter, and as I stretched, at least 100 high school PE students showed up to run and walk. I said, "Fuck it," and left.

Rob Wistrand and I started nine holes at First Tee at about noon and each scored 50. I had 2 pars, 3 bogies, 2 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 quadruple, and used 18 putts. I started bogey, quad, triple, then played the final six holes at six-over. I parred No. 4 with a driver, a 180-yard four-iron, and two putts from 40 feet. Rob's scoring was even odder; he had 1 birdie, 3 pars, 2 bogies, 1 triple, 1 quadruple, and 1 hexagonal (a five-putt 10 on No. 4). So, one-over for six, 13-over for the other three.

It reached 80 for the first time this year; a bone-dry 80 that feels great.

This evening, starting at about 8 Central, I jogged the Maple Street Loop in 21:24, with splits of 10:50 and 10:34.
