Levy Loop

My blood sugar was at 42 at around 10 p.m. I drank five ounces of grape juice, and ran the Levy Loop non-stop in 24:14, with mile splits of 11:56 and 12:18. It was at 54 when I finished, 15 minutes ago. I was a little rubbery-legged and uncoordinated the last mile, and battled balance a bit, particularly on hills, the whole way. Otherwise it was easy on a cool, almost cold evening.

I guess I should've let the grape juice settle in.

Hash

We were out for 45 minutes, during which my cranial GPS calculated I covered 3.52 miles. That gave me a 13.52-mile week.

Whidbey Island Half-marathon

I ran and walked it somewhere between 3:10-3:20, and felt like hell most of the way. I told myself I would never do anything beyond a 5K ever again about half way through, but now think I will try again. Tomorrow I'm going to try to start a new streak of uninterrupted running of at least 2 miles. We'll see. I would like to get to the point no big fat old women out run me.

Here goes

This is a test, I guess, to see what it's like to run and walk a half-marathon on almost no training.

I walked, and jogged for a total of about 10 minutes, the Park Hill Loop in 54:12. That would be a pace adequate to run the Whidbey Island Half-marathon in about 2:57. Actually, now, my goal is to finish somewhat intact and not impede my company.

Hash

I walked, and jogged for a total of about a mile, for 45 minutes with the Little Rock Hash House Harriers at Section 13 Park this afternoon. All was fine until I slipped and fell butt first and then slid for 10 feet in a mud hole. My car seat and couch have dirt on them from the back of my black shorts.

Do they make a golf patch?

This Callaway vs. Titleist game is addictive.
Titleist won its third consecutive match, 45-46, at Fort Roots today.
Callaway was crushed by the result. It was tied through eight holes, but a fucked-up chip on No. 9 led to triple bogey. The Titleist was three-putted, but took the victory with a double.
Callaway remains angry with my four-putt for triple on No. 6, and that I missed a 3-foot birdie putt on No. 3. I remain pissed that I shot a 91 with 39 putts. In all, I had 1 birdie, 4 pars, 7 bogies, 3 doubles, and 3 triples.

I just got in from the 47th Street Loop run non-stop, and comfortably, in 31:26, with splits of 10:30, 10:24, and 10:32.

The same, but a little more

I repeated my fitness program of yesterday, except today I ran and walked the Park Hill Loop in 57:04. Then I pitted the Titleist DT Solo against the Callaway CX3-Hot. The Titleist won again, 46-47, when it parred No. 9 at Fort Roots. Callaway's 8-footer for par stopped two inches short. I'm proud to say I've played 36 holes at Fort Roots the last two days without losing a ball.

I didn't swing as well today, but used 33 putts. This playing-two-balls technique is great. It took me two hours, fifteen minutes to play 18 holes.

Shit, I guess I'm back

I wrote someone yesterday that I hadn't run in four days. After opening Pam's Boy last night for the first time in a while, I realized I lied. Heck, I went six consecutive days without running, perfect training for a walk of the Whidbey Island Half-Marathon.

This morning I walked and jogged the Ridge Road Loop in 49:28. I didn't keep splits, or look at my watch until I was on Orange Street, about a quarter of a mile from my house. I jogged a little extra to make sure I broke 50 minutes (that doesn't sound significant, until you recognize I'm the only man to break 50 on Ridge Road).

This afternoon, for the first time, I played two balls against each other in a nine-hole grudge match. It was Titleist DT So/Lo vs. Callaway CX3-Hot. Titleist won 44-47. Both were relieved to not be lost, a rarity at Fort Roots. The 91 was nice. I had 3 pars, 10 bogies, 4 doubles, and 1 triple. I used 35 putts.
